Responsibilities
KCL Copper business is in growing stage of journey managed by senior level leaders with distinct & interdependent teams and responsibilities. It is a high growth organization currently in inception and has set ambitious project completion target of Commissioning 0.5 MTPA in 24 months. Next 5-year priorities for Copper business are an orbit shift in technology adoption & application, global supplier for Copper and related products, data-based decisions, organizational capability to be reliable & consistent, fostering a culture of innovation & entrepreneurship and known for ESG practices.
Incumbent is to Head Copper Tubes Business and ensure Operational excellence and sustainable growth. Head – Copper Tubes Business will be responsible for managing overall cost and achieve profit as per the budget and Operations at overall level. Accountable for project management, trading, techno commercial, cost management, driving volume, enhancing ROCE, productivity, efficiencies, and profitability. Maintaining growth trajectory is an important imperative for the position. Incumbent is also responsible for on schedule completion of project (for capacity development). Continuous focus on logistics, cost optimization through digital adoption, technology applications, data & analytics and process level improvements are imperatives for the role. Growing organizational capabilities through systematic investment in people development & capabilities for continuity & succession are part of the role. Growth & Operational excellence are to be pursued with reliability, predictability & long-term value creation perspectives.
- Ability to take on and conceive / vision a multi-prong networked strategy and execute on an integrated approach to drive project erection & commissioning of Copper Tubes complex and operations post project completion that meet or exceed best in class benchmarks in terms of cost, production and asset Management.
- Responsible for building the portfolio of sustainable growth, cost & performance of Copper Tubes Business activities in line with strategic direction
- Business development experience with ability to articulate delivered value to each relevant customer / stakeholder effectively to generate profitable and cash revenue.
- Ensuring project execution costs are within the approved targets
- Demonstrated skill in execution, and operations enabled through digitization and the broad use of algorithms and optimization that can be deployed to drive efficiency and deliver on speed, adaptability, and flexibility to allow for speedy execution and efficient asset management for value creation.
- Ability to be a natural leader and a track record of having selected the right fit-for-purpose talent while building large teams. Given multisite / labor driven business model should be willing to act strongly as needed, be an effective recruiter and an assimilator of talent for Copper Tubes business and thereafter the Group.
- A natural affinity for proactively working with various Government agencies across different levels
- Ensuring that all operations comply with HSE requirement
- Identifying operational risks and preparing mitigation plan
- Implementation of latest technology
- Build a profitable business with a sustainable value proposition with application of management and process learning and practices and to establish governance practices based on sound analytics. Technology transformation and adoption for building a world class complex and by contributing significantly to the P&L for the Copper project.
- Draw leadership development and succession plans and ensure capabilities ahead of growth requirements. Invest in people's capabilities at individual, team and organization level to ensure flow of leadership pipeline across functions. Drive employee engagement and employee experience through group level programs & initiatives. Responsible for growing technical capabilities through appropriate technical training and other means.
- Active involvement & participation during building / acquiring new business. To work as a part of Copper Team to manage overall aspects of transactions.
- Actively participate into group processes and influence development of common processes and agenda to impact outcomes. Manage peer relationships to seek & extend help as required.
- Foster organizational culture of respect & dignity, meritocracy & high performance, outcome oriented, agile, customer centric & technology driven. Strengthen cultural tenets of Courage, Trust & Commitment. Deep dive into current state and introduce cultural elements that will sustain success over long term.
- Implementation of ESG & safety procedures to grow sustainability index. Continuously improve security indices through application of technology and other means
Qualifications - B. Tech/B.E – Metallurgy/Chemical
- 15+ years of experience in operations/projects in Copper Rod/Tubes/Commodity industry
- 5+ years' experience in senior management role in industry with cost & revenue responsibility
