Associate Scientist

ICRISAT is seeking applications from dynamic Indian Nationals for Associate Scientist To conduct business and academic research, execute and evaluate various projects, develop successful business models, undertake case studies, document success stories and lead and assist in publication of research papers for Agribusiness and Innovation Platform (AIP) at ICRISAT in the Global Research Program – Enabling Systems Transformation at ICRISAT is based at ICRISAT’s Headquarters in Patancheru, Hyderabad, India.

ICRISAT conducts research on its mandate crops of chickpea, pigeonpea, groundnut, sorghum, pearl millet and finger millet in the arid and semi-arid tropics. The Institute focuses its work on the drylands and in protecting the environment. Tropical dryland areas are usually seen as resource-poor and perennially beset by shocks such as drought, thereby trapping dryland communities in poverty and hunger and making them dependent on external aid. Duties and Responsibilities:

·Lead in developing proposals for various social / rural / tribal developmental projects.

·Develop project objectives and business analytical models.

·Design data collection tools and coordinate data collection from project surveys.

·Lead empirical research to create demand-driven, policy-relevant evidence by analyzing data in terms of project outcomes, social impacts, and return on investment for the donor.

·Analyze technical and policy issues, strategies and programs to support the development, competitiveness, inclusiveness of projects.

·Lead development of scientific publications, project reports and, communication products.

·Lead research articles for publication of the past and current projects in implementation

·Assist in AIP scaling up of its operations in Africa.

·Any other assignment given by the supervisor / senior management.

Requirement:

· Minimum of 2-5 years’ experience in research / academic institute in public or private sector

· Good publication record in reputed national and international journals

· Paper/poster presentation or participation in national and international conferences

· Experience of working on field will be an added advantage

· Ph.D. in Management specializing in agricultural management or agricultural economics

· Excellent communication skills in English especially in scientific writing, editing and oral presentation skills

· Good knowledge on project management related to agriculture or agribusiness

· Efficient management and execution of field level studies

· Understanding of various research designs for analysis of project impacts

· Proficient in data analysis using STATA or SPSS

· Thorough knowledge of computer skills like MS office (excel, PP & word)

· Team worker and adaptable to working in multicultural environment

General:

This is a contractual role for a period of 36 months (3 years).
