About The Role
Grade Level (for internal use): 05 Skills Required Communication Skills: Candidate should be skilled in active listening to truly understand the needs and concerns of all parties involved. Analytical Skills: Analytical thinking is important for identifying patterns and trends in user feedback and data, which can be invaluable in the requirement-gathering process. User Research: Candidate should be able to conduct and analyze user research effectively. Technical Acumen: While product managers may not be developers, they should have a basic understanding of technology, software development processes, and relevant tools to effectively communicate with the technical team and understand technical constraints. Prioritization Skills: Prioritize requirements based on impact, feasibility, and alignment with business goals. Prioritization frameworks like MoSCoW (Must have, Should have, Could have, Won't have) can be helpful. Documentation: Keeping detailed and organized documentation of requirements is crucial. This includes user stories, use cases, and other requirement specifications. Stakeholder Management: Product owners interact with various stakeholders, including customers, executives, marketing teams, and development teams. Strong interpersonal skills are necessary to manage expectations and build consensus. Problem-Solving Skills: Gathering requirements often involves solving complex problems and addressing conflicting needs. Being a good problem solver is a key asset. Adaptability: Requirements can change as the project progresses, so product managers must be flexible and open to adjusting the product roadmap and priorities accordingly. Data Analysis: Proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques can help product managers derive insights from user data and usage metrics.
