A packing material manager in the pharmaceutical industry is responsible for managing the overall supply chain of packaging materials used in the production, packaging, and distribution of pharmaceutical products. The job responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing a packaging material strategy: This involves working with cross-functional teams to develop a comprehensive strategy for the procurement, management, and distribution of packaging materials
- Identifying and selecting vendors: The packing material manager will identify and select packaging material suppliers that meet the company's quality, delivery, and cost requirements
- Managing vendor relationships: The packing material manager will establish and maintain strong relationships with packaging material vendors to ensure timely delivery, quality control, and cost optimization
- Inventory management: The packing material manager will ensure that the packaging materials are available when needed, without causing overstocking or stockouts, while maintaining optimal inventory levels
- Quality control: The packing material manager will oversee the quality control processes for packaging materials, ensuring that they meet the company's standards and regulations
- Cost optimization: The packing material manager will identify opportunities for cost optimization in the procurement and management of packaging materials
- Coordination with internal departments: The packing material manager will coordinate with other departments such as production, logistics, and quality assurance to ensure smooth supply chain operations
- Continuous improvement: The packing material manager will continuously monitor and improve the packaging material supply chain processes to enhance efficiency and quality
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business administration, or related field
- Experience in packaging materials procurement, inventory management, and quality control
- Strong analytical skills, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail
- Knowledge of FDA regulations and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) standards
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in computer software, such as Microsoft Office and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
