Job description
A UX Designer (Midweight) will understand business requirements to drive the user experience (UX) and user interface design (UI) solutions across multiple company platforms.
A user-centered designer that is a strong advocate of pursuing the optimal user outcome, through the early ideation phase, storyboarding and user journeys to wireframing, interactive prototypes and signed off UI. The designer will constantly explore, test and iterate their findings through analytical data and user testing to make sure the users impressions and needs are met for interactive experiences.
The role also requires a collaborative, social mindset to work alongside Product and Development teams to establish goals whilst managing time efficiently to meet expectations. Furthermore, being able to work in constructive setting with other team members to provide consistent functionality and design.
Key Responsibilities :
- Conceptualise and design user flows for all range of devices, highlighting key touch points and user expectations of the product.
- Provide detailed design proposals, wireframes and prototypes with annotated layouts to confidently present to stakeholders across the business.
- Take a user-centered approach and rapidly test and iterate your designs, working in an agile way, with product and development, test and QA teams.
- Work effectively alongside other designers as an integral part of the team to provide constant support and feedback on tasks covering user interface design, user experience journey analysis and configuration.
- Liaise with relevant parties (Creative Team, UI Designers, Product Owners Developers) to progressively move from low fidelity wireframes to high fidelity designs.
- Openly communicates and collaborates across the team, business and stakeholders in order to build strong relationships and develop cross functional working.
- Carry out usability studies and provide feedback to the UX Manager, this will include relevant analysis and data (liaising with UX analyst where necessary) to help facilitate championing of the customer.
- Provide support and guidance to the team on UX principles and best practice to ensure the team has a consistent approach in their work.
- Provide UX consultation services to the Creative Team on day to day UI design work where necessary including Projects, BAU tasks Creative initiatives. Furthermore, have an understanding of where we can leverage technology with any new and exciting trends to deliver outstanding products.
- Heavily involved in kick-off sessions with other teams to provide a voice for the UX team, that takes into consideration time estimates and skill set of team.
- Champion new ideas and strive to excel products for our users.
Qualifications and Educational Requirements
- 3 Years commercial digital experience including UX design, research, planning and strategy.
- University-level education in design, technology, psychology, human factors or Human Computer Interaction.
Specialist Skills and Experience Required
- Knowledge of wireframing, prototyping, animation and design software tools (Axure, Balsamiq, Invisionapp, Sketch, Principle, Zeplin, Adobe Suite)
- Experience and passion of designing complex products across a variety of platforms.
- Ability to think at all layers of a project, from product (system) design, to interactions, to final design.
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, highly-dynamic environment and having the ability to interpret a client's requirements, work collaboratively or independently to prioritise projects and deliver on time.
- A good working knowledge of user centered design methodologies, lean design and agile development; Be passionate about all things UI and other areas of design and innovation.
- A large toolkit and varied UX skills and techniques, from workshopping to sketching to prototyping, and a knowledge of which to use when.
- Good analytical, planning, organisational and reporting skills with the ability to communicate in a clear and timely manner, whether verbal or visual.
- IT literate with the ability to quickly learn and optimise new system environments (both internal, 3rd party and the interfaces between).
- Quick response and decisive decision making when incorporating relevant feedback from product owners and other design team members. Whilst also being able to take on board feedback and constructive criticism.
- Ability to work with internal clients to understand detailed requirements and design complete user experiences that meet client needs and vision.
- Extensive experience in using UI design best practices to design solutions, and a deep understanding of mobile-first and responsive design.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders, providing a realistic and objective view on the opportunities, and associated risks and potential risk mitigations for areas of UX within product development.
- Constantly refine visual design language, tackle complex user interactions and highlight each product's brand and unique personality.
- Good project management skills with the ability to handle multiple streams of work and prioritise accordingly.
- Understanding of user experience best practices, information architecture, and user testing.
- Understanding of, and experience with front-end technologies and code implementation, including CSS3, HTML5 and Javascript.
- A wealth of knowledge for all company products to induct any new or less experienced team members.
- Knowledge of the online gaming industry experience preferred although not essential.
- Creating a strategic direction for future, as well as current progression of company products and aligning team focus to a clear vision with strategic initiatives in place.
