Batch Analyst II Responsibility Summary : This role provides quality solutions by supporting a variety of professional, technical and analytical duties in the support of data center batch processing. Assignments includes monitoring daily batch cycles in both mainframe and distributed environments, escalating batch failures or delays, performing first level analysis of batch failures and executing recovery actions to ensure timely and successful batch execution. · Analyze, detect, identify and correct technical problems and deficiencies by supporting one of the following areas of IS: · Mainframe batch processing · Utilizing CA7 batch scheduler and CA11 catalog management table · Distributed batch processing · Using Autosys batch scheduler and WCC interface · Detect and escalate interruptions to batch schedule. · Identify actual and potential business impact of batch delays and / or failures. · Interact with application support teams to execute batch recovery activities. · Modify current batch schedule in support of scheduled maintenance activities. · Interact with systems administrators to solve technical issues impacting batch cycles. · Fulfill ad hoc schedule modifications through formal request mechanisms. · Read JCL and provide corrective overrides for Jobs, Catalogued Procedures and Control Cards. · Detect and correct resource related batch failures in IBM’s zOS platform. Qualifications Required in the Job: · Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or Engineering preferred or equivalent related work experience. · Minimum of 5 years of data center batch processing experience. · Experience with Large-scale data processing via automated scheduling tools · Ability to code, read and override zOS Job Control Language (JCL) · Experience with zOS Data Control Techniques through execution of IBM utilities through ISPF foreground and batch submission. Problem Solving: · Identify, research, and resolve technical problems associated with data center batch processing · Follows Methodologies, Standards and Procedures and will engage resources if needed · Ability to relate technical issues to business operations and impact · Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills · Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish responsibilities · Spends significant time interfacing with support teams, technical associates, and vendors · Must have strong written and verbal communication skills to document the problem, resolution, root cause, and to recommend operational improvements. · Ability to efficiently prioritize and organize competing work demands with little oversight Decision Making: Decision are made daily for medium to high, non-routine situations which can potentially effect costs, results, availability and performance. · Incumbent must go to multiple sources to gather data to resolve problems and bring to resolution which also involves troubleshooting of technical components with some guidance from more senior-level analysts. Incumbent must analyze data and assess impact as multiple workflows and processes could be impacted and result in financial losses for the firm. Incumbent makes decisions on how to resolve problems and the decisions are reviewed by leadership.Job tags
