Job Summary

We are looking for a confident, reliable and well presented individual to join our phlebotomy team

Based at County Hospital rotating to RS when required to do so the successful applicant will be an integral part of the phlebotomy rota and expected to provide day to day supervision of the phlebotomy team in all of the above locations You will also be expected to deputise for the Phlebotomy Manager when necessary

Main duties of the job

The collection of quality blood samples from patients is a vital stage in many medical investigations.

You will be working both on the wards and in the Outpatient DepartmentWe offer a phlebotomy service in a range of locations across North Midlands including Royal Stoke Hospital, County Hospital. Community Walk In Centres and Community bookable clinics

Qualifications

Person Specification Qualifications / Training Essential

  • GCSE English grade C or equivalent
  • GCSE Maths grade C or equivalent
  • Trained phlebotomist

Desirable

  • GCSE in scince subject grade C or above
  • Care related NVQ 3

Experience Essential

  • Highly competent in phlebotomy techniques
  • Experience of working as a phlebotomist
  • Ability to supervise a team
  • Evidence of manual dexterity and technical work

Skills and Knowledge Essential

  • Basic key board skills
  • ability to work towards defined protocols
  • Good telephone and communication skills

Aptitudes Essential

  • Ability to cope under pressure
  • Methodical approach to work
  • Ability to work independently

Desirable

  • Ability to show initiative

Other requirements Essential

  • Must have own transport and able to travel to clinics and transport samples and suitable insurance
