Collaborate with writers, other editors, content strategists, content architects, illustrators, UX designers, product managers, data analysts, and the marketing and legal teams to improve users’ content experiences.
Help writers improve the structure of our top-visited pages and guides, and collaborate with writing teams to evolve our voice, style, and tone using our modernization guidelines and content briefs.
As a mentor, provide constructive feedback on the structure of a topic or the organization of guides.
As a developmental editor, edit topics and guides to improve content flow, close documentation gaps by researching and discussing with writers and engineering, and eliminate redundancies in content.
Develop training modules for writers and editors. Present the modules to teams, as needed.
Manage and contribute to the corporate style guide and terminology database.
Work with other editors to improve adoption of the writing assistant tool Congree.
Attend relevant meetings, such as All-Hands and editors’ meetings.
Test deployed/published documentation sites as needed.
What You Should Have
BA/BS or equivalent degree in applicable field and 6 or more years of editing experience (including structural editing and copyediting). Senior technical writers with editing experience may also apply.
Knowledge of Instructional Design.
Experience in the computer networking industry or other technical areas.
Excellent English language and grammar skills, both written and spoken.
Knowledge of style guidelines, preferably in working with high-tech product documentation.
Awareness about emerging technologies (such as generative AI), creative products, and Web communities.
Familiarity with search engine optimization (SEO) principles and experience applying them.
Experience editing documentation using XML tools and technologies (DITA and Oxygen), as well as Adobe Acrobat and MS Word.
Experience working with content management systems such as XDocs CCMS.
Strong collaboration and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a greater product documentation and education services team.
Ability to handle multiple projects and schedules simultaneously and to move quickly among projects.
