Buro Happold's newly established Knowledge and Research Centre (KRC) in Bangalore, positioned as a Centre of Excellence for business research is looking for two Assistant Managers - Business Research. KRC will play a pivotal role in supporting our global engineering and advisory community with research, analysis, and insights aimed at driving sales, business development, and marketing initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Lead teams of analysts on assignments and undertake solo projects for data and information analysis sourced from secondary and subscribed databases, occasionally utilising primary sources.
- Provide analysis, insights, and recommendations to the firm's leaders and consultants globally across sectors and service lines, enabling well-informed business decisions for the firm and its clients, while also driving Buro Happold's sales and marketing campaigns leading to growth in the firm's revenue and profitability.
- Advise internal and, when required, external clients on defining, developing, and scoping research briefs.
- Take accountability for managing client expectations by engaging with clients iteratively over the lifecycle of a research assignment, ensuring that all underlying objectives of research briefs are met to their satisfaction within specified deadlines.
- Line-manage, coach, and mentor analysts, with timely and effective feedback, and periodic appraisals. Drive people development by engaging with direct reports and the team to support their career development.
Assignment Deliverables
This includes, but is not limited to:
- Developing thought leadership through research to support Buro Happold's position as an authoritative source of industry know-how with compelling insights, substantiated by data, analysis, and examples. The objective is to build innovative solutions that enhance the firm's reputation as a trailblazing influencer and encourage clients to continue seeking the firm as a trusted source of deep expertise and advice.
- Building value propositions through research to shape new solutions and services that deliver quantifiable outcomes. This involves identifying the target market's needs, understanding the competitive landscape, and crafting a compelling message to communicate how the new solution addresses those needs better than the existing alternatives.
- Developing go-to-market strategies through research on how Buro Happold can promote its services and meet client needs via identification of target demographics, market segmentation, positioning, distribution channels, pricing, and marketing and sales tactics to maximise market penetration, client acquisition, and revenue in new markets.
- Research and analysis to evaluate a market, sector, or an industry via an examination of size, trends, growth forecast, challenges, competitive landscape, and opportunities and risks to help Buro Happold or its clients decide on strategy, resource allocation, and capture, build, or grow their market share.
- Additionally, work on other business research deliverables such as account, competitor, trend, risk, location, PESTLE, and SWOT analysis, as well as benchmarking studies, vendor evaluation, and Porter's Five Forces.
Required Skills
- Exposure to services such as digital, sustainability, technology, mobility, and financial models, and sectors such as urban development, buildings, cities and infrastructure, energy, healthcare, and science & technology, as part of prior business research experience.
- Sound knowledge of business research tools and techniques and the ability to develop analytical and custom research frameworks aligned to the assignment brief.
- Strong working knowledge of MS Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint with good data visualisation and interpretation skillsâˆ'where succinct text is used to drive home the data insights and research findings highlighted by the graphics. Knowledge of statistical tools for data analytics will be an added advantage.
- Good communication skills (written and verbal) and excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
Experience
- 17-20+ years of business research experience in an off-shored captive unit of a management/strategy/research consultancy, or a third-party research vendor, or a market research firm.
- Full-time MBA /PG DBM/equivalent from a reputed institute preferred.
