ABOUT THIS JOB
At Nielsen, we use big data and technology to provide media clients with insights into consumer viewing behavior. We are looking for a DevOps Engineer to join our team in Chicago and help build a robust, reliable, and accessible cloud-based data science platform.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide technical support to data scientists using the platform (both internal and external)
- Troubleshoot technical issues on the platform using Kubernetes, Airflow, Spark, Jupyterhub, Gluster, Azure, and AWS
- Write software as needed to ensure system reliability
- Read and debug data science models written in languages like Python, Spark, R, etc.
- Manage trouble tickets assigned to the platform
- Escalate issues to the platform team, other business units, and vendors when necessary
- Handle multiple priorities and work requests with a sense of urgency

QUALIFICATIONS
- BS in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Passionate about cloud technology and statistical modeling
- Working knowledge of Python
- Experience with Unix/Linux based platforms
- Experience with at least one cloud-based platform (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCE, OpenStack)
NICE TO HAVE
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform, Cloudformation, Ansible, or similar technologies
- Knowledge of additional programming languages like Ruby, Scala, JavaScript, R, or C++
- Experience with container orchestration technologies like Kubernetes, Mesos, ECS, or Docker Swarm
- Experience building or maintaining statistical models
