Overview

The Planning Engineer plays a crucial role in the project management team, responsible for developing, maintaining, and updating project schedules. They play a key role in coordinating resources, resolving conflicts, and ensuring timely completion of projects. The Planning Engineer's work is vital for effective project execution and delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain project schedules using project management software
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather project requirements
  • Analyze project timelines, resources, and critical paths to identify potential issues and propose solutions
  • Monitor project progress and update schedules to reflect any changes or delays
  • Prepare and present project progress reports to the management team
  • Conduct risk analysis and develop contingency plans to mitigate project delays
  • Collaborate with the procurement team to ensure timely availability of materials and equipment
  • Communicate schedule changes and updates to all relevant stakeholders
  • Resolve scheduling conflicts and resource constraints
  • Implement best practices for project scheduling and monitoring
  • Provide support in project planning and budgeting activities
  • Participate in project meetings and provide insights on schedule-related matters
  • Ensure compliance with project timelines and milestones
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of project management processes
  • Assist in the development of project documentation and reports

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
  • Proven experience in project planning and scheduling within the construction or engineering industry
  • Proficiency in project management software such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar tools
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Ability to analyze complex project data and translate it into actionable plans
  • Knowledge of project risk management principles
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Understanding of construction methodologies and processes
  • Certification in project management (e.g., PMP, CAPM) is a plus
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in project schedule development
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to project scheduling
  • Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and priorities
