Job description

We are looking for an experienced biochemical/ biotechnology engineer who could join us as Research & Development Scientist in our R&D Circular Lab in Bhopal. The role would also require to work and interact with our R&D experts in Germany and the Netherlands.

Reporting to the Head of R&D, Mumbai.

Bioean is a company founded in early 2023 with a mission to help the environment by tirelessly working in the area of biomass spent management. Our team is composed of biotechnologists, biochemists, botanists, chemical engineers, and economists, all working together towards sustainability and protecting against climate change. We provide sustainable solutions by upcycling agricultural waste.

Role Description

This is a full-time hybrid role located in our R&D Circular Labs in Bhopal with flexibility for some work from home. The Research and Development Scientist will be responsible for conducting laboratory work for developing and improving sustainable solutions. The Particularly,

• Work on new ideas with the team in India, Germany, and the Netherlands to develop innovative products from the biomass for cosmetics, food, pharmaceuticals, or construction industry.
• Identify useful compounds to be derived from biomass and connect that with the cutting-edge solutions required to extract those compounds.
• Develop products in laboratory setting and ensure their commercial viability.
• Manage from end to end research and development projects.
• Work in close coordination with the team and institutions in Germany and the Netherlands to develop products on an industrial scale.
• Writing reports and presenting findings to the team.

Skills and Requirements

• 4-5 years of practical R&D experience in green chemistry and biotechnology.
• Awareness of how different parts of the value chain interact, from biomass to end customer's requirements.
• Prior experience working in lab environment is a must.
• Strong Project management skills in its entire component.
• Having commercial thinking is highly desirable.
• Somebody who is a go-getter and hardworking with a creative bent of mind and can keep moving on the journey to develop innovative products.

Qualification

• Master's/ PhD in Biochemistry/Biotechnology, or a similar qualification.

The role is initially meant for 1 year and can become permanent afterwards, depending upon the performance of the individual. The location of the work would be hybrid, i.e. a mix of office and remote presence.

By joining as one of the first team members of the R&D Labs in India, there would be a substantial growth potential for the individual, who would also work on the next generation solutions in the biomass space in Europe.
