Job Title: Head of Engineering
Department: Engineering
Reports To: Chief Executive Officer
Job Summary: The Head of Engineering will lead our engineering department and provide technical leadership and strategic direction. This role includes overseeing the development and delivering high-quality software products, fostering innovation, and driving continuous improvement.
Job Responsibilities:
● Lead the engineering team in developing, releasing, and maintaining software applications aligned with business priorities.
● Facilitate communication of technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, including investors and potential clients.
● Collaborate with product managers and designers to translate requirements into scalable solutions.
● Advocate for and implement agile practices, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
● Manage the engineering budget, optimizing resource allocation and technological investments.
● Oversee recruitment and development of engineering talent, ensuring alignment with budgetary and organizational goals.
● Cultivate an engineering culture that values empowerment and technical excellence.
● Uphold coding, documentation, and testing best practices.
● Maintain accountability for the development process, product quality, and performance metrics.
Requirements
Qualifications/Skills:
● Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
● 8-12 years of relevant industry experience.
● 4-5 years in a management role.
● Adaptable thinker with the capacity to address challenges innovatively.
● Proven record in leading high-performance teams.
● In-depth understanding of industry trends and technological advancements.
● Skilled in architecture validation and high-level design.
● Proficiency in backend development with Java, MySQL, and Hibernate.
● Experience in REST API development, testing, and monitoring.
● DevOps mindset with familiarity with CI/CD practices and tools.
● Expertise in cloud services such as AWS, GCP, and containerization technologies like Kubernetes and Docker.
● Ensure compliance of non-functional attributes (stability, security, availability, performance, etc. ) of the product to internal standards.
