Job description
As a Scrum Master within the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), your primary responsibility is to facilitate the Agile Release Train (ART) and support the Agile teams in delivering high quality products. Your role involves coaching, facilitating, and fostering an Agile mindset across the teams.
Responsibilities include:
- Excellent communication skills
- Proficiency techniques which help in modeling and understanding a business and its operation. Familiar with tools and techniques (manual or automated) which can be used to document an understanding of the structure, relationships and use of information within an organisation.
- Familiar with the application of automated systems to the support of specific business functions or processes.
- Familiar with methods and techniques for risk management, business impact analysis, countermeasures and contingency arrangements relating to the serious disruption of IT services.
Team Facilitation:
Scrum Events:
- Facilitate Scrum events, including Sprint Planning, Daily Standups, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives, ensuring their effectiveness.
CrossTeam Collaboration:
- Promote collaboration and communication among Agile teams to ensure alignment and synchronization.
- Identify and address impediments to team progress.
Agile Coaching:
Agile Principles:
- Coach Agile teams on SAFe principles, values, and practices.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and adherence to Agile methodologies.
Team Empowerment:
- Empower teams to self organize and make decisions, fostering a sense of ownership and accountability.
- Provide guidance on Agile best practices and techniques.
Program Execution:
PI Planning:
- Facilitate and actively participate in Program Increment (PI) planning events.
- Ensure that team priorities align with the overall program and organizational objectives.
Backlog Refinement:
- Collaborate with Product Owners to ensure a well defined and prioritized product backlog.
- Assist teams in breaking down and estimating user stories.
Metrics and Reporting:
Metrics Tracking:
- Define, track, and report key Agile metrics to measure team and program performance.
- Use metrics to identify areas for improvement and guide decision making.
Continuous Improvement:
- Facilitate regular retrospectives and help teams implement improvements.
- Contribute to the Agile community within the organization by sharing best practices.
Stakeholder Management:
Communication:
- Ensure transparent and effective communication within the team and with stakeholders.
- Collaborate with Product Owners, Release Train Engineers, and other Scrum Masters to address dependencies and impediments.
Conflict Resolution:
- Address and resolve conflicts within the team and escalate when necessary.
- Foster a positive and collaborative team culture.
Qualifications:
- Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or SAFe Scrum Master certification.
- Bachelors degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience.
- Proven experience as a Scrum Master in Agile environments.
- Strong understanding of SAFe principles and practices.
- Excellent facilitation and communication skills.
- Ability to adapt and lead in a dynamic and fast paced environment.
