Hybrid Working

Structured hybrid role:
At Barclays, we offer a hybrid working experience that blends the positives of working alongside colleagues at our onsite locations, together with working from home. We have a structured approach where colleagues work at an onsite location on fixed, 'anchor', days of the week, for a minimum of two days a week or more, as set by the business area (or nearest equivalent if working part-time hours). Please discuss the working pattern requirements for the role you are applying for with the hiring manager. Please note that as we continue to embed our hybrid working environment, we remain in a test and learn phase, which means that working arrangements may be subject to change on reasonable notice to ensure we meet the needs of our business.


Introduction:

. Under moderate supervision, plans & executes test project, its risks and dependencies
. Mitigate risks to Business through timely, precise automated execution and validation of test plans
. Mitigates / escalates issues to Test Manager or Portfolio Test Lead as appropriate
. Drive test automation throughout the development lifecycle, shifting quality left
. Leading a feature team for Test including all test responsibilities within the cycle such as sizing, scripting, testing (automation & manual) as well as defect management

What will you be doing

. Execute automated/manual tests as required
. Develop and execute a comprehensive test automation strategy aligned with project goals and objectives. Define the scope of automation, select appropriate tools and frameworks, and establish best practices
. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create test plans, design test cases, and identify test scenarios suitable for automation. Ensure adequate test coverage and risk assessment.
. Lead the development and maintenance of automated test scripts and frameworks. Oversee the selection and configuration of test automation tools and libraries.
. Provide guidance and leadership to the test automation team, including mentoring and coaching team members, setting performance goals, and conducting regular assessments.
. Coordinate the execution of automated test suites, analyze test results, and report defects and issues to relevant stakeholders. Ensure that testing milestones are met according to project timelines.
. Identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency in test automation workflows. Encourage a culture of continuous learning and innovation within the team.
. Collaborate closely with project managers, developers, business analysts, and other stakeholders to align test automation efforts with project objectives and priorities.
. Maintain documentation related to test automation processes, standards, and best practices. Ensure that test scripts and frameworks are well-documented for future reference.
. Stay updated with emerging test automation trends and technologies. Provide training and knowledge sharing sessions to enhance the skills of the automation team
. Actively participate in defect triage meetings, root cause analysis, and resolution discussions. Facilitate communication between development and testing teams to ensure timely issue resolution
. Increase coverage of Automation packs and pass rate in the Release Testing cycle.


What we're looking for:

. The candidate should possess a deep understanding of test automation tools, frameworks, and programming languages (8-10 years of experience in Java, Selenium, Cucumber) and demonstrate a strong technical aptitude to guide automation efforts effectively.
. Expertise in crafting comprehensive test automation strategies, encompassing test scope definition, test planning, test case design, test execution, risk assessment, and test environment setup
. Proficient in writing and maintaining automation scripts and code, as well as knowledge of best practices for maintainable and scalable test automation.
. Experience in BDD framework and Ui Automation and API testing.
. Extensive knowledge of Agile Test estimation techniques and CI / CD and DevOps methodologies
. Experience of using the Git source code control system

Skills that will help you in the role:

. Good knowledge in Database SQL queries.
. Exposure to various file formats
. Knowledge of Industry standard training associated with testing, experience of working within a regulatory driven change environment
. Awareness of banking applications
. Experience of the following:
o Testing across multiple browsers / devices
o Automated test data creation
. Exposure to configuration and change
