Job description

Job Overview

Responsible for shaping programming strategy and direction for the TV channel and contributing to the overall vision for the channel.

The role requires directing and coordinating activities of personnel engaged in the preparation and execution of station programs as per agreed strategy and schedules.

Content Strategy

• Understanding and Analysis of BARC Data Programming

• Monitor and review programming to ensure that schedules are met, guidelines are adhered to, and performances are of adequate quality.

• Evaluate new and existing programming to assess suitability and the need for changes, using information such as audience surveys and feedback.

• Review information about programs and schedules to ensure accuracy and provide such information to local media outlets.

• Develop budgets for programming and broadcasting activities and monitor expenditures to ensure that they remain within budgetary limits.

• Responsible for FPC planning and scheduling.

• Plan and schedule programming and event coverage, based on broadcast length, time availability, and other factors, such as community needs, ratings data, and viewer demographics.

• Monitor network transmissions for advisories concerning daily program schedules, program content, special feeds, or program changes.

• Coordinate activities between departments, such as marketing and programming.

• Prepare copy and edit tape so that material is ready for broadcasting.

• Shape the channel positioning, organize program launches from beginning to end and form future programming strategy for the genre.

• Understand the market trends and consumer behavior for content in the genre.

• Develop ideas for Kids programs and features that the Broadcaster could produce.

• Develop promotions for current programs and specials.

• Select, acquire, maintain programs and obtain legal clearances for their use as necessary.

• Strategize the complete Programming experience & lead every facet of the channel's journey.

• Responsible for program acquisition, competitive analysis, planning, and scheduling will help shape the channel and grow a loyal audience base.

Departmental Coordination & Collaboration & Networking Team Management

• Responsible to identify key talent and bring on board.

• Establish work schedules and assign work to staff members.

• Direct and coordinate activities of personnel engaged in the programming.

• Train, motivate and keep employees engaged with good quality work.

Job Specification To be able to succeed in this role, you must:

1. Have a Post Graduation/ Graduation preferably in Mass Communication/Media

2. 10 years plus of Broadcast industry experience in buying and scheduling of programs in India, preferably from the genre.

3. Exposure to all aspects of programming including scheduling, research, production, rights commissioning etc. Good editorial experience

4. Commercial acumen and budget management skills & Team management skills are a must.
