Job description
Position Overview: Raahgiri Foundation is seeking a creative and motivated Junior Architect to join our team and contribute to our mission of promoting sustainable and active urban environments. As a Junior Architect, you will work closely with senior architects and urban planners to design and develop innovative public spaces that enhance the quality of life in urban areas. Your role will involve conceptualizing, designing, and planning spaces that align with our organization's vision of fostering community engagement, health, and sustainability.
Raahgiri Foundation is a non-governmental organisation on a mission to create sustainable and inclusive urban spaces that prioritise the safety, convenience, and happiness of all people. This is achieved by focusing on reducing CO2 emissions, minimising road traffic deaths and injuries, and designing accessible streets in order to create safe and environmentally conscious cities. Key Responsibilities: Collaborate with senior architects and urban planners to create conceptual designs for public spaces, taking into consideration factors such as community needs, environmental impact, and urban context. Assist in developing detailed architectural plans, drawings, and 3D models using appropriate design software and tools. Contribute to the preparation of project proposals, presentations, and reports to communicate design concepts effectively to stakeholders, including local governments, community groups, and donors. Participate in site visits, surveys, and assessments to gather information for design development and understand the site constraints and opportunities. Research and recommend sustainable design solutions, materials, and technologies that align with Raahgiri Foundation's commitment to environmental stewardship. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure that architectural designs integrate seamlessly with landscape architecture, urban design, and infrastructure planning elements. Assist in reviewing construction documents and ensuring that designs adhere to relevant codes, regulations, and standards. Engage in ongoing professional development to stay updated with industry trends, design innovations, and best practices in urban planning and architecture. Support community engagement initiatives, workshops, and public presentations related to architectural designs to gather feedback and ensure designs reflect community aspirations. Qualifications and Skills: Bachelor's degree in Architecture or a related field. Strong proficiency in architectural design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, or similar tools. Solid understanding of sustainable design principles and urban planning concepts. Excellent visualization and communication skills, including the ability to create compelling presentations and visual materials. Enthusiasm for community engagement and the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders. Knowledge of local building codes, regulations, and construction practices. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Positive attitude, adaptability, and willingness to learn and collaborate within a dynamic team environment.
