Shell Trading integrates a global portfolio of crude oil, refined products, natural gas, electrical power, LNG, chemicals and freight & Shipping . Additionally, it provides marine expertise to operating units and manages a substantial fleet of vessels.
What's the role?
The successful candidature will be part of one of the teams of North America Products Trading Settlements & Accounting within Hydrocarbons management responsible for daily settlements of Refined Products line of business with external and inter-group counterparties for Shell Trading US Company and Shell Trading Canada legal entities.
Daily settlements include paying vendors, invoicing customers, debt chasing, emissions accounting, regulatory reporting, Inter Group reconciliations and non-commodity settlements. The successful candidature will work within a team of 8 – 12 members with extensive collaboration with the business partners spread across Finance Operations and Houston / Calgary business locations. The role offers a challenging opportunity in a fast moving, dynamic and global trading environment with one of the shortest payments terms and complex emissions standards.
Accountabilities:
1. Co-ordinate the settlements activities for NA Products line of business by ensuring on-time and accurate settlements in line with the contractual terms, compliance, controls and sanctions framework, emissions standards and agreed ways of working with business partners.
2. Lead and coordinate the efforts in all disputes, validation errors and IT issues impacting daily settlements and work with relevant stake holders for a resolution.
3. Follow the escalation matrix where issues and disputes remain unresolved that calls for manager’s intervention, support, and guidance.
4. Monitor the workload distribution of the teams daily by being responsible for the daily VM huddles of the team.
5. Responsible for timely and accurate publishing of operational metrics and periodic reports with quality comments.
6. Responsible for seeking periodic feedback from the business partners on various reports, metrics, data analysis shared and continuously strive to improve the quality for maximizing opportunities to support business.
7. Periodically review the operational metrics, leading and lag indicators for potential Continuous Improvement opportunities that can be identified and taken forward for further discussions.
8. Responsible for the monthly and quarterly preparation of Blackline accounts in line with the Global and Trading guidelines.
9. Periodic review and update of Work Instructions to ensure all the process exceptions and changes are documented and approved.
10. Undertake Ad-hoc activities as and when presented by changing business scenarios.
Dimensions:
Average vendor payments of ~ $ 2 Billion per month.
Average customer billing and collections of $ 2.5 Billion per month.
Emissions accounting and Inter Group reconciliations are part of the above dimensions.
Work Schedule:
Considering the daily settlements supporting North America, the position involves working in night work shift to support US business hours all through the month.
The routine work shift will be 6 pm to 3 am (India Standard Time).
