Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Scientist with hands-on experience to join our dynamic team at Sony Liv. This is an individual contributor role and as a senior data scientist you will play a pivotal role in leveraging data science and machine learning techniques to enhance user experience on our OTT platform. You will lead the development and implementation of cutting-edge models and algorithms for various modules including search, recommendation engines, content metadata enrichment, and user engagement optimization.

Qualifications:

• B.Tech in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field with a focus on machine learning, data mining, or artificial intelligence.
• 8-10 years of relevant industry experience in applied data science and machine learning roles, preferably within the OTT, e-commerce sectors or product led organizations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the design, development, and deployment of advanced machine learning models and algorithms to improve user experience on the Sony Liv platform.
• Strong system understanding to provide guidance, collaborate effectively, and navigate through technical complexities as needed to support project requirements.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including product management, and engineering teams to define requirements, prioritize initiatives, and drive business impact.
• Develop and optimize search algorithms and ranking mechanisms to enhance content discovery and relevance for users across different platforms and devices.
• Design and implement personalized recommendation engines using collaborative filtering, content-based filtering, deep learning, and reinforcement learning techniques to drive user engagement and retention.
• Enhance content metadata quality and enrichment processes through data mining, natural language processing (NLP), and entity recognition algorithms to improve search accuracy and content recommendation effectiveness.
• Lead experimentation and A/B testing initiatives to evaluate the performance of machine learning models and algorithmic changes, and iteratively optimize key performance metrics such as user engagement, conversion rates, and content consumption.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in data science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence technologies, and actively contribute to the development of best practices, standards, and methodologies within the organization.

Technical Skills :

• Proven track record of leading end-to-end development and deployment of machine learning models and algorithms in production environments, with demonstrable impact on business metrics and user experience.
• Expertise in programming languages such as Python or R, and proficiency in data manipulation, analysis, and visualization libraries
• Strong knowledge of machine learning techniques including supervised learning, unsupervised learning, deep learning, reinforcement learning, and natural language processing.
• Hands-on experience with big data technologies and distributed computing frameworks (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, AWS, GCP) for scalable data processing and model training.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, analytical thinking, and attention to detail, with the ability to translate complex business requirements into actionable data science solutions.
• Effective communication and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally, mentor junior team members, and present technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
