Procurement in Unilever is responsible for over 30B Euro of material and services spend globally with more than 60,000 suppliers. Within procurement we are organized by teams responsible for procurement specific to BGs (Focus of Five) while others are responsible for procurement for specific materials and services across the BGs (Power of One). The Packaging, Capex & Utilities Procurement team is one of the “Power of One” teams. Within this, the Procurement Manager – Global Capex is responsible for the sourcing strategy development, implementation and supplier relationship management of all engineering spends related to future technologies (digital factory – components and engineering, Control, Automation and Instrumentation), Green technologies (solar PV, heat pumps/ heat recovery systems, biomass boiler and new sustainability techonogy), Engineering Services (Engg design and project management services) and other allied portfolio related to Unilever plants and green field/ brown field projects globally. This role is also aimed at supporting the new Value Chain Integration investments in areas like sulphonation and other technologies as part of vertical integration strategy of Unilever and supporting existing global portfolio team with supplier development and relationship management of key global suppliers based in India.
This role will increase effectiveness of our Capex sourcing by creating an expertise-driven model, streamlining accountabilities, building capabilities, developing market alternatives, and leveraging knowledge, relationships, and business strategies across markets to bring the best value sourcing solutions for the various projects.
He/she will increase efficiency of our Capex procurement by driving scale where it makes sense, decreasing fragmentation, leveraging global supply bases, prioritizing higher impact spend areas, leveraging technology and data, and delivering on best practices.
Key Accountabilities:
- Lead the development and implementation of procurement strategies relevant for capex project sourcing and its execution for factories and new Greenfield projects.
- Deep understanding of supply markets and technologies, product/ service value chains and medium-long term supply/ demand trends.
- Lead the development and implementation of procurement strategies relevant for the portfolio responsible for, project execution including historical portfolio data analysis and defining the negotiation strategy .
- Support the BG and other global technology teams in identifying new capable suppliers, Supplier assessment (commercial, technical), manage pilot project.
- Run specific sourcing projects including preparation, assessment & negotiation of tenders (incl. familiarity with e-tenders).
- Build and maintain relationship with procurement teams in various geographies and participate in project procurement planning for relevant portfolio.
- Evaluate and facilitate Decision making process- product life cycle costs, spares and consumables cost, software licences and other services cost (TCO analysis)
- Detailed analysis and decision for Award of business to suppliers and alignment with stakeholders, internal and external.
- Legal agreements drafting with Legal counsel, negotiation with suppliers to finalise the contracts.
- Multiple Stake holder management both Internal and external i.e., Project leadership & Teams, legal counsel/ agencies, Finance, Global Procurement and Suppliers
- Participate and contribute to Governance meetings, weekly & monthly project review meetings (from procurement perspective)
- SPOC for global capex procurement to build sourcing expertise, market intelligence, analytics and insights together with Supplier Operations and Third Party Sourcing Service Provider.
- Drive supplier segmentation and partnerships with key suppliers to create long term, sustainable and competitive value creation for Unilever in respective portfolio.
- Deliver savings/ buying efficiencies and generate cash through effective negotiations and continuous value improvement programs.
- Compliance to ‘Schedule of Authority’ applicable for the project, country
Experience Required:
Qualification/experience
- Engineering graduate (any discipline) is necessary. (Post-Graduation in Engineering or Management, procurement certifications will be an added advantage)
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a technical procurement position, including large project sourcing
- Excellent/proven Negotiation skills for sourcing of high value complex packages
- Excellent stakeholder management, both internal and external & communication skills
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
- Ability to operate independently in a large organization with complex and remote teams.
- Proactive, Collaborative, positive team player with ability to lead teams.
- Good knowledge of MS- Word, Excel, Power BI, Teams and appreciation of digital procurement tools.

Travel:
International travel required 10% time.
