Org Description

A newly launched vertical of CGBMT, It's Not A Compliment India is an Indian-based grassroots movement, fighting for the rights of ALL individuals to enjoy public spaces free of the fear of harassment. We believe in a society where street harassment is recognized as harmful on its own, not just as a step towards more violence. We will actively work towards creating a society where all individuals know what street harassment looks like, how to call it out, and how to safely intervene to stop or prevent it. 

Our initiative involves sharing stories of street harassment submitted by the public, creating educational resources, running public awareness campaigns, organizing and facilitating bystander intervention training and workshops about consent, respect, and equality. We will also collaborate with visual artists to develop public art installations and organize artivism workshops for the community. While our efforts share similarities with those of INAC Australia, we are significantly expanding our range and scope of work.

Role Description

This is a full-time hybrid role for a Communications Department Intern. 

The Communications Department Intern will be responsible for assisting in day-to-day tasks such as managing social media accounts, drafting press releases, creating and editing content, and assisting in event planning. The intern will work from our office in Bengaluru North for 2.5 days a week and remotely for 3 days a week.

Education and Experience

• Currently enrolled in or recently graduated with a degree in Communications, Journalism, or related field
• Demonstrated interest in human rights for all, and/or intersectional feminism is a HUGE plus

Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal
• Creativity skills and ability to think outside the box
• Experience in developing and executing strategic communications plans
• Proficient in Writing for various media channels
• Ability to work collaboratively
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to work independently and in a team
