We are seeking to recruit a Senior Mechanical/process Designer to join our helping to contribute to the UK’s Energy Transition Team's success. Working as part of a large engineering group, the UK Energy Transition team provides services to our Clients and their projects from initial inception through development and construction to operation and decommissioning. An approach that sees us support our Clients over the entire lifecycle of a project.
The role requires the ability to use AutoCAD Plant 3D software packages to prepare detailed engineering piping drawings including PFD’s, P&ID’s, plot plans and layouts, pipe supports, and isometrics in line with the client's requirements. The Energy Transition projects include conventional power plants, energy from waste plants, industrial facilities, and carbon capture schemes.
A typical week may include:
- Working with the project team to develop cost-effective, efficient, and innovative solutions to complex problems, and to create practical designs based on these solutions;
- Working on projects in a variety of stages of maturity, including Feasibility Studies, Concept Designs, FEED Studies, Value Engineering and Detailed Design;
- Liaising with design teams as necessary to coordinate 3D Model design processes and production.
- Preparation and development of deliverables such as piping drawings including PFD’s, P&ID’s, plot plans and layouts, pipe supports, isometrics and piping 3D model development.
- Producing bill of materials/quantities for mechanical systems;
- Developing overall piping plans, general layouts, isometrics, plot plans, and other project specific details. Including the application Site Topographical Survey drawings and data
- Reviewing, developing and incorporating information from equipment vendors;
- Assisting with establishing, maintaining and enforcing the use of CAD standards in line with WSP procedures.
- Supporting internal development and continuous improvement activities as required
- Supporting on cross-region project work with learning & acquiring necessary software skillsets.
- Multi-tasking and managing multiple projects with the ability to accurately predict the time required to fulfill the individual scopes of work required.

WE’D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU IF YOU HAVE
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Proficiency with the relevant International Standards, and ability to learn and understand client's standards and specifications
- Ability to read and interpret 2D and 3D CAD drawings and models to assist with investigations of engineering problems.
- Experience using 2D/3D AutoCAD software packages
- Strong communication skills and works well as part of a team
- Competence with the Microsoft Office suite of programs.
- Work experience on UK projects would be advantageous.
- Have a minimum of 5 years of experience.
