The Windows and Active Directory (AD) Administrator is responsible for managing and maintaining the Windows server environment, Active Directory infrastructure, and VMware virtualization platform within an organization. The administrator will handle various tasks, including server deployment, configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting, and security management. They will also ensure the stability, performance, and availability of Windows servers, AD infrastructure.
Job Responsibilities: Windows Server Management:
- Deploy, configure, and manage Windows servers, both physical and virtual.
- Install and maintain server operating systems, including patching and updates.
- Monitor server performance and resource utilization.
- Troubleshoot and resolve server-related issues like hardware, software, and network-related issues on Windows servers and incidents.
- Implement security measures to protect server infrastructure.
- perform regular server patching and updates.
- Manage server backups and disaster recovery plans.
Scripting and Automation:
- Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts for automating routine Windows and AD administrative tasks.
- Automate user provisioning and de-provisioning processes.
- Create scripts to perform system maintenance and updates.
Active Directory Administration:
- Manage and maintain the Active Directory infrastructure.
- Design, deploy, and maintain Active Directory infrastructure, including domain controllers, DNS, and Group Policy Objects (GPOs).
- Create and manage user accounts, security groups, and organizational units (OUs) within Active Directory.
- Implement and enforce security policies and permissions using Active Directory security features.
- Troubleshoot and resolve AD-related issues, such as authentication problems, replication failures, and trust relationships.
User and Group Management:
- Assist in user provisioning, including creating user accounts, granting permissions, and managing user profiles.
- Manage user authentication and access control by configuring Active Directory authentication mechanisms.
- Create and manage security groups, distribution groups, and mailing lists.
- Collaborate with other teams to ensure user accounts and permissions align with organizational needs and security requirements.
System Monitoring and Maintenance:
- Implement monitoring tools to ensure server and infrastructure availability.
- Perform regular system maintenance tasks, including backups and updates.
- Conduct capacity planning and resource utilization analysis.
- Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and inefficiencies.
Security and Access Control:
- Implement security measures using PowerShell scripts to audit and enforce security policies.
- Manage access controls and permissions within Active Directory.
Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution:
- Use PowerShell for diagnosing and resolving issues related to Windows servers and AD.
- Create scripts to perform health checks and generate reports on system status.
Patch Management:
- Develop and implement scripts for patch management on Windows servers.
- Ensure that servers and systems are up to date with the latest security patches.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including system configurations and procedures.
- Generate reports on system performance, incidents, and trends.
- Provide recommendations for system improvements and optimizations.
- Create Knowledge base and SOPs.
- Supporting ITIL processes and documenting the same.
Collaboration and Support:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve infrastructure-related issues.
- Provide technical support to end-users and assist with troubleshooting.
- Participate in the planning and implementation of IT projects.
Responsible for system specification and design or similar tasks related to the area of specialization. Consults, supports and guides others.
Solves 3rd level problems.
Provides technical expertise to support the sales organisation and customers in the sales phase.
Keeps well updated on the development of the offered services/products.
Responsible for designing and documenting hardware parts according to given specifications, or similar tasks related to the specialized area. Describes system requirements and specifies functional requirements.
Able to make parts of board, FPGA or PCB-Designs.
Specifies requirements, hardware test, hardware and SW-bring up. .
Solves a range of straightforward problems.
Analyzes possible solutions using standard procedures.
