Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team focused on the design and development of wind turbine components. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be instrumental in creating robust and efficient designs for various mechanical systems within wind turbines.
Responsibilities: - Component Design:
- Design and develop mechanical components of wind turbines, including but not limited to blades, nacelles, gearboxes, and towers, ensuring compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
- Utilize CAD software to create detailed 3D models and technical drawings.
- Design Optimization:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize designs for performance, efficiency, and manufacturability.
- Conduct Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and other simulations to validate and improve the structural integrity of components.
- Material Selection:
- Work with materials engineers to select appropriate materials based on mechanical properties, environmental considerations, and cost-effectiveness.
- Ensure designs meet safety and regulatory standards.
- Prototyping and Testing Support:
- Provide support for prototyping activities by creating detailed drawings and specifications for manufacturing processes.
- Collaborate with testing teams to analyze and interpret test results, iterating designs based on findings.
- Documentation:
- Maintain organized documentation of all design iterations, revisions, and versions.
- Prepare comprehensive design manuals and guidelines for internal reference.
- Cost Analysis:
- Conduct cost analysis for mechanical components, considering materials, manufacturing processes, and assembly.
- Work within budget constraints to develop cost-effective design solutions.
- Collaboration:
- Collaborate with aerodynamics, structural, and electrical engineers to ensure seamless integration of mechanical designs into the overall wind turbine system.
- Work closely with project managers to meet project timelines and milestones.
Qualifications: - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Proven experience in mechanical design, preferably in the wind energy or related industry.
- Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or CATIA.
- Knowledge of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools and principles.
Skills: - Strong attention to detail and accuracy in creating 3D models and technical drawings.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to optimize designs for performance and efficiency.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
