Hybrid Working
Structured hybrid role:
At Barclays, we offer a hybrid working experience that blends the positives of working alongside colleagues at our onsite locations, together with working from home. We have a structured approach where colleagues work at an onsite location on fixed, ‘anchor’, days of the week, for a minimum of two days a week or more, as set by the business area (or nearest equivalent if working part-time hours). Introduction:
The WI Team is a global team which sits within the Compliance function. The purpose of the team is to ensure that colleagues are able to raise whistleblowing concerns and that these are appropriately recorded and investigated. The key responsibilities of the WI team are to (1) define and deliver a global Whistleblowing programme, in line with regulation, which supports employees who report concerns, protects them from retaliation and ensures that action is taken to address any identified risks or issues; and (2) conduct investigations into confidential concerns, including but not limited to whistleblowing concerns.
What will you be doing?
Investigations
• Undertake and/or support investigations into matters referred by the Global Compliance Whistleblowing Team and Barclays’ business entities, principally in EME, but with Global reach where necessary.
• Conduct and/or support investigations in accordance with Compliance Investigations’ methodology and I&W handbook, utilising the dedicated Case Management System for the recording and management of casework.
• Delivery of investigations: Undertake and/or support interviews, note take during interviews, take statements, analyse facts, review e-communications, gather evidence, prepare reports and witness statements in accordance with the I&W internal milestones.
• Participation in criminal, civil and disciplinary proceedings as and when required.
• Demonstrate intellectual curiosity, a risk management mind-set and commercial awareness during investigations to enhance the quality and thoroughness of the investigation. The individual should be alive to the management of risk and impact across all business units and consider the impact of any lessons learnt.
Decision-making and Problem Solving
• Highly adept at analysing data from multiple sources and applying objective judgement to reach logical, fact based conclusions.
Team Responsibilities.
• Support operation of relevant management information reporting, analysis and appropriate feedback processes to the business and infrastructure, in conjunction with departmental governance standards.
• Be pro-active in both keeping informed of and incorporating relevant investigations best practice into Investigations’ procedures and activities, including the sharing of knowledge across the team.
• Enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness in all that the team does.
Governance, Risk and Controls.
• Risk and Control: All Barclays colleagues have to ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Risk Management Framework and internal Barclays policies, standards and procedures.
Stakeholder Management
• Build strong working relationships with key internal stakeholders, including but not limited to Front Office teams, Risk, Compliance, Legal, Operations, Credit, Human Resources, Finance and Audit.
What we’re looking for:
• Experience of working in the financial services industry, with a major company in another sector or in an investigative public body or an investigative function.
• Excellent written, communication and presentation skills.
• Excellent analytical and logical reasoning skills.
• Computer literate with knowledge and experience of using Microsoft Windows packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Ability to work well under pressure with demanding multiple deliverables, working alone or as part of a team.
• Excellent organisational skills and an ability to prioritise and be flexible.
• Ability to probe and ask questions to understand difficult subject areas.
• Proactive approach with a passion for continuous improvement.
Skills that will help you in the role:
• Relevant experience of undertaking investigations in a corporate, regulatory or investigative body.
• Knowledge of financial products across retail, investment and corporate is desirable.
• Experience of conduction and
• Experienced at conducting e-communications reviews and using platforms, including Relativity or similar and/or Brainspace.
• Ability to communicate effectively and with confidence at all levels, including with senior stakeholders.
• Experienced at giving evidence in criminal and/or civil, tribunal and/or disciplinary contexts.
