The Aladdin Data team is responsible for the data ecosystem within BlackRock. Our goal is to build and maintain a leading-edge data platform that provides highly available, consistent data of the highest quality for all users of the platform, notably investors, operations teams, and data scientists.
Role Description:
We are looking for an experienced full-stack developer who wants to focus on the intersection of finance, data engineering, and web development. As a Vice President, Software Engineer, you will leverage cutting-edge technologies to provide users with a seamless, tailored experience across several priority workflows, including organizing financial data for official reporting, developing models that will inform trading and investment decisions, and automating everyday financial and operational tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
You will be responsible for:
Architecting, sequencing, developing, deploying, and maintaining products within Aladdin Studio;
Managing a team of engineers and aligning its members on the products’ vision;
Collaborating with product managers to gather, refine, and validate requirements;
Evangelizing and embodying agile best practices to drive user adoption and engagement;
Harnessing documentation to ensure transparent communication with teammates, stakeholders, and end-users;
Working with a global team to deliver value to users.
Desirable Qualifications/Skills:
10+ years of experience managing engineering teams.
Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject area.
Demonstrated leadership abilities, including ability to mentor and coach junior engineers.
Skilled at architecting and building scalable distributed applications;
Experience with data discovery, governance, and scaling tools;
Proficiency with Java (Spring), TypeScript (using React), SQL, and Linux;
Ability to independently troubleshoot and fix performance issues across the codebase and database queries.
Experience with Agile development methodologies.
Nice to have:
Deep knowledge of Snowflake and its product capabilities.
Worked on data catalog and metadata repository maintenance to facilitate data discovery and comprehension;
