Who we are looking for
This position will support the State Street broker dealer Controllership team in ensuring appropriate accounting and regulatory reporting. The position requires the Person to master and become the reviewer of operational accounting and regulatory reporting processes for the broker/dealer. As part of this role the individual is responsible for partnering with both teams in the global hubs as well as in the Unites States in executing operational accounting and the preparation of reporting. The Person will help ensure best practice in governance and policy, as well as a robust control environment – remediating as necessary areas where process improvements are required. The person will develop strong working relationships with internal and external auditors and business leaders; proactively addressing their requirements. In addition, the individual will be expected to support the broader Controllership team in other areas as the opportunities arise. Specifically, we expect the individual will be engaged in supporting the valuation governance team as required.

What you will be responsible for
As Controller, Officer you will:
- Supervise daily activities and monthly close process for broker/dealer legal entity.
- Manage the daily funding process of the broker/dealer.
- Review regulatory reporting functions, and US GAAP financial statements for the US broker/dealer.
- Provide assistance with planned projects expanding the US broker/dealer trading businesses.
- Develop and maintain relationships with individuals in Operations, Accounting, Compliance, Treasury and business lines in order to drive change and efficiencies from a Controllership perspective.
- Manage requests for multiple internal and external audits.
- Assist in ad hoc reports and requests and answer questions from different business segments.
- Perform Independent Price Validation (IPV) and re-pricing of securities on a monthly basis.
- Perform and prepare various back-testing and analytical reports.
- Prepare occasional presentations
- Assist in continued functionalization of department with attention to streamlining of accounting functions.
- Other projects as directed by manager could include Fair Value reporting , SOX testing, and Stress Testing
- Prepare and update process narratives/procedures
- Have good accounting knowledge and able to apply right level of detail.
- Have “owner’s mind set”, work independently, and effectively manage timelines
- Be required to participate in or conduct a wide range of accounting and financial analyses on critical and complex issues which may include variance analysis and accounting transactions.

Education & Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting with 4 to 6 years experience,
- Series 99, Financial Industry Regulatory Authority license a plus. If not yet licensed, obligation to immediately commit to exam preparation
- Financial Services background preferred
- Strong analytical and excel skills required
- Chartered Accountant/CWA/CPA or parts passed is a plus.
- Broker Dealer experience a plus
- Bloomberg/Intex experience a plus
- Able to work independently and meet tight deadlines
