The opportunity:

ORBCOMM is the market leader in IoT solutions focused on monitoring and controlling dry and refrigerated container assets for global shipping and logistics companies. We differentiate from our competitors by providing complete, end-to-end solutions with tightly integrated hardware and software components to offer our customers complete visibility as to the location and disposition of their valuable cargo assets. Our award-winning platform was recently selected for the largest global deployment of supply chain monitoring for a major European shipping company, with an asset fleet exceeding 600K containers, adding to the more than 2 million assets that we actively track and control for our customers.

Our Hyderabad site is the proud office of approximately 120 people from our Product Development Team and another 30 from other functions. There is a rich history with many team members being with ORBCOMM for 10+ years. This site remains a high growth location for ORBCOMM and needs a transformational leader to make it the 'place to be' for top technical and non-technical talent.

The selected leader will have global support to succeed from the broader organization and accordingly, will report directly to the Chief Technology Officer.

Key Responsibilities:

The Vice President of our India Product Development and Site Leader is a key leadership role across our growing technology company.

The primary responsibilities include ensuring all product development teams:

• Adopt our defined best practices in agile-lean development, focusing on built-in quality, security and high availability
• Continually grow and learn, as a core part of the overall ORBCOMM culture

Additionally, the responsibilities of this role include ensuring that our Hyderabad site:

• Is well operated in all aspects

• Becomes a showcase site for ORBCOMM, to take our APAC customers to, etc.

This role will continue to evolve as experience is gained, with direct participation in the Office of the CTO weekly leadership meeting, product strategy sessions, initiative definition and planning, technology investigation and innovation sessions, and more.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Proven technical leadership experience in software development, ideally in the IoT space and/or integrated hardware/firmware/cloud space.
• Strong technical background and understanding of software development methodologies and technologies.
• Lean/Agile theory as applied to large, scalable teams.
• Demonstrated ability to drive process improvements and optimize software development practices.
• Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience with software development tools and technologies.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, and familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) a plus
• Familiarity with modern software construction and deployment techniques (such as automated testing, CI/CD, containers, DevOps, SSDL, Built-in Quality, use of software management tools such as Jira, etc.
• Applied Artificial Intelligence in context to productized offers or within tools to accelerate software development a plus.
• Excellent analytical and troubleshooting abilities, demonstrated attention to detail.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Servant style leadership, that balances the needs of the company with the needs of the valued team members.

Education/Training:

Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field from a reputed institution.
