JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Summary: The Air Systems Application Engineer is an important member of the IMEA Climate team and will be a key partner to the IMEA Air Systems Product Marketing Manager for the application engineering support in commercializing the Regal Rexnord Air Systems products and provide customer support at systems level using his/her extensive HVAC application knowledge around airflow.
Build strong relationships & engage with customer effectively in presenting Regal Rexnord's air flow optimization product /solutions to customer application challenges. Supports customer application testing with Regal Rexnord's flagship Air Flow solutions extensively. Analyse and review designs of new blower / motor systems and improvise on existing products using CFD skills and Air flow expertise. Optimizes designs of components and products with guidance on manufacturability, quality and cost with a strong understanding of design tools and methods. Must have a solid understanding of problem solving process (Root cause analysis, failure analysis, and several other lean tools). Assists in capturing voice of customer and development of product specifications. Translates customer needs to product specification as well as manufacturing requirements. Create test plans and develops new test protocol for products or components, with a basic understanding of reliability and failure mechanisms. The role requires engineering leadership in supporting the various NPD programs as part of IMEA air systems .
Major Responsibilities:
· Coordinate all sales focused customer activities between customers and Air Systems engineering / lab team members in evaluating best motor / blower solutions
· This role will be the customer advocate to drive performance, quality, and reliability requirements back to the engineering team members
· Be comfortable with the software and application tools, while enjoying sharing that knowledge in front of the customer.
· Works closely with Regal Rexnord field sales and marketing team members in driving continuous customer engagement, managing technical inquiries, and participate in technology review sessions at customers
· Conducts complex root cause analysis and identification of field issues observed. Approves corrective action authorization (8D analysis) and has customer communication leadership.
· Supports and approves complex product design changes and provides technical product analysis to the plant for specific projects or customers.
· Working with the Business team (Marketing, Sales, Manufacturing, Sourcing) to develop, execute New Model Releases and prototypes, engineering change requests
· Participate in pricing evaluations for motor / blower solutions identified for specific customers
· Supports Design & development of new blower systems using Airflow & HVAC application knowledge. This includes the design of new products, redesign of existing products to improve performance, reliability or cost; as well as supporting failure analysis and resolution based on knowledge gathered from customer field visits
· Develop test requirements, use design of experiments and other analytical tools to define critical characteristics and work with lab personnel to validate product performance to customers, internal, and agency requirements
· Effectively interact with marketing, sales, application engineers and customers for existing products as well as potential new opportunities
· Utilize engineering tools such as DFMEA/PFMEA, DFM/DFA to identify potential issues and FEA and other simulation for early mitigation
· Work on the product detailed layout, detailed drawings, parts specifications and Bills of Material
· Be thoroughly knowledgeable about and test product in accordance with the Approval Agency requirements of concern
· Analyze and interpret test data and make product revisions as necessary to comply with safety and performance requirements
· Suggest new product ideas and maintain records for potential patentable ideas
· Support assembly line: by analyzing and solving problems or obstacles that occur during production.
· Travel up to 30%. May be needed for customer testing support / product launches, & customer engagements
