Job description
General Purpose of the Position:
To steward the foundational giving for the organizationunder the guidance of India Director, Marketing & Communications, Managing Director and in consultation with HSI – US Philanthropy department. The candidate will be Responsible for creating multiple funding avenues through institutional giving for HSI/India campaigns from within and outside the country.
Responsibilities:
- Executes a comprehensive fundraising strategy to generate funds from institutions including public and private foundations to allow HSI/India to execute their campaigns and programs. Interfaces with the Philanthropy department and other HSI/India departments to develop standard operating protocols and best practices. (40%)
- Research prospective funders, manage the proposal pipeline, and compose letters of inquiry. Ensures reporting requirements are met and other documentation is maintained and submitted. (20%)
- Works with the HSI - US fundraising department to develop, submit or review proposals and reports. Assists the Director of Marketing and Communications in overseeing the full life cycle of grants and institutional giving. (20%)
- Arrange, conduct, and coordinate donor events, cultivation, stewardship, and recognition activities such as on-site signage, recognition in publications, and on-site visits for foundation sponsors and donors. (5%)
- Supports the Director of Marketing and Communications in maintaining accurate donor tracking systems and database for constituents, while maintaining the confidentiality of donor information. (5%)
- Drafts and submits relevant and timely grant reports, utilizing up-to-date organizational data and strategies. (5%)
- Works with Trustees, other volunteers, and staff to review and implement cultivation and solicitation strategies. (5%)
- Performs other duties or responsibilities, as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Graduate degree or equivalent work experience required.
- A minimum of 4 years of fundraising experience in Non-Governmental Organizations required. Experience with Foundations preferred.
Necessary Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Commitment to HSI's mission, values, and objectives and mainstream operating style.
- Comprehensive knowledge of animal protection issues.
- Ability to interface with High-Net-Worth Individuals, foundations, and corporate companies.
- Willing and able to travel regularly within India, and occasionally internationally.
- Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with frequent deadlines; high energy, self-motivated and proactive.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and negotiating skills.
- Excellent project management and time management skills.
- Superior research and analytical skills.
- Ability to grasp complex subjects and communicate them in a simple manner.
- Attention to detail and commitment to excellence, demonstrated by the delivery of quality and timely outcomes.
- Adopts an entrepreneurial and innovative approach to work.
- Interest in animal protection issues is preferred.
Compensation Range (in INR): INR 9.50 - 10.70 LPA (Annual Gross Salary)
