Responsibilities:

We are seeking an experienced Application Packaging Specialist to join our dynamic IT team. The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in application packaging and deployment using tools like Install Shield, ORCA, Picture Taker, and other related technologies. The Application Packaging Specialist will play a critical role in ensuring the seamless deployment and distribution of software applications across our organization.

  • Application Packaging and Deployment: Lead the packaging, testing, and deployment of software applications in a standardized and consistent manner, ensuring compatibility, performance, and security.
  • Packaging Tools Expertise: Utilize advanced proficiency in tools like Install Shield, ORCA, Picture Taker, and other packaging tools to create and customize installation packages for various software applications.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough testing and quality assurance of packaged applications to identify and resolve any compatibility issues, conflicts, or performance bottlenecks.
  • Scripting and Automation: Develop and maintain scripting solutions (e.g., PowerShell, VBScript) for automating application packaging processes, enhancing efficiency, and ensuring accuracy.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain detailed documentation of packaging procedures, best practices, and troubleshooting steps for reference by the IT team and other stakeholders.
  • Version Control: Manage version control and source code repositories for packaged applications, ensuring proper tracking and management of changes.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including application developers, system administrators, and helpdesk support, to gather requirements, troubleshoot issues, and optimize packaging processes.
  • Stay Current: Keep up to date with industry trends, advancements, and emerging technologies related to application packaging and deployment.

Must Have :

  • Problem Solving: Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues related to application packaging, deployment, and compatibility.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement, streamline workflows, and implement best practices to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of application packaging procedures.
  • Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in application packaging and deployment.
  • Proficiency in packaging tools such as Install Shield, ORCA, Picture Taker, and familiarity with other packaging technologies.
  • Strong scripting skills, particularly in PowerShell and/or VBScript.
  • In-depth knowledge of Windows operating systems, registry, and file system.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively within a team and across departments.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on producing high-quality, reliable packaging solutions.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with version control systems and source code repositories is a plus.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure DevOps Engineer, Microsoft Certified: Windows Developer, etc.) are a plus.

Qualification:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
