Roles & Responsibilities:
Responsible for driving cost out opportunity to build a pipeline, developing design concepts and supporting with building cost out standard works in the capacity of a Packaging Engineer
- Lead, design, and qualify the packaging design for Laboratory products Division and Analytical Instruments Group which are globally manufactured and help to reduce the cost, drive design standardization across multiple sites and look for driving sustainable/green packaging solution.
- As part of a multi-functional development team, major responsibility will include leading high sophisticated Packaging projects independently.
- Strong Industrial packaging design knowledge, global qualification standards and exposure towards sustainable packaging.
- Ensures that assigned projects are delivered timely, to specification, and at or below targeted cost through validated engineering plans, including quality, cost, schedule, and risk assessment. Report on project progress.
- Approaches problems in a rational manner and with outstanding tools to ensure comprehensive understanding and effective resolution.
- Promotes an environment of learning, coordinates technical training, addresses, and fills technical gaps, and helps to buildup technical pipeline.
- Efficiently interfaces to sourcing, operations, quality, logistic, service, and global R&D team, as well as external suppliers, vendors, and customers.
- Collaborate with multiple cross functional teams to propose; assess the feasibility, and implement packaging design, material, or process changes, including creative packaging solutions to drive cost out and sustainability.
- Perform cost benefit analysis and finalize annualized savings for given project.
- Perform VAVE study and identify cost out opportunities which are quality neutral.
Skills and Proficiencies:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering with 8+ years of experience
- VAVE certified & PMP certified (Good to have)
- Minimum 5 end-to-end high sophisticated project execution experience in the role of project leader.
- Excellent understanding of packaging design (Foams, Corrugates, Paper boards, Wood, and polymer films)
- Awareness on regulatory requirements. Knowledge of packaging test standards such as ISTA, ISO and ASTM.
- Proficient with phase gate / technical review process
- Problem solving, critical thinking, attention to detail, responsibility and out of box thinking.
