Job description

Qualifying Criteria:

• Seasoned Computational Scientist or Geoscientist with C++ and Numerical Computation with focus on Finite Element based codes in applied Physics/Material Science/Fluids Mechanics
• Notice period/Joining duration: Immediately/Less than 60 Days.
• Location preference: Willing to work out of Bangalore in a hybrid model.

Mandatory skills:

• Numerical Computation with focus on Finite Element based codes in applied Physics/Material Science/Fluids Mechanics
• Strong C++ skills with experience in version control git, Cake builds, CPU architecture, writing Shared memory distributed computing codes with MPI/OpenMPI, using 3rd party scientific tools like PETSc, HYPRE, boost, Qt.
• Strong skills on HPC workflows and technologies involved.
• Working competence on Linux

Good To Have:

• Cloud Computing: esp AWS; cloud solution for HPC, cloud storage
• Containerization: Build Docker and Singularity containers for HPC applications
• Packaging tools: Linux RPM tools, Nuget.

Job description

• Experienced Computational Scientist OR Geoscientist with 6+ (Senior) years of experience in Scientific Programming for Engineering and/or Physics

• Extensive Scientific Software development experience using C/C++ Must possess two of the following competencies:

o Development of Finite Element (Galerkin Method) code,

o Development of scientific application for Shared Memory Parallel (HPC) systems on Linux (Unix) environment and/or

o Development of numerical models/solution for geoscientific applications Strong knowledge of computer science fundamentals and how to apply them in a large-scale distributed system Strong understanding and practice of agile software development life cycle processes, including planning, design, software testing and quality control.

• Demonstrate the ability to work and communicate effectively with various disciplines, including non-technical management.

• Master's degree or PhD in Engineering, Physics, or Computer Science with strong technical and computational programming experience.

• In-depth experience in the development of Finite Element (Galerkin Method) code for solving non-linear Partial Differential Equations. Finite Difference and Finite Volume is a plus.

• Extensive knowledge of Mathematical Methods for Scientific Computing, including Heat Transfer, Hydrogeology, Thermodynamics, and Inversion Techniques Experienced working in virtual (remote) development teams using Agile development process (Scrum) Understanding and experience of Basin Analysis (Petroleum Systems Analysis) is a huge plus.
