Job description

Lead Software Engineer:

We are looking for a highly motivated individual that is excited about continually learning new things and being part of a fast-paced team that is delivering cutting edge solutions that drive new products and features that are critical for our customers. In this role, you will work across geographical and organizational boundaries with all levels of software engineers, technical management, and business partners. As part of the Infrastructure team, you will help maintain the quality, reliability and availability of key systems that provide search and information retrieval for our core products.

The ideal candidate will have experience in making technology decisions on large, enterprise-scale software development programs and have a DevOps mindset. The candidate will also have extensive skills in the areas of design, development, delivery, execution, leadership, mentoring and directing co-workers across geographic boundaries.

About Role:

In this role you will play a key technical lead role. Primary responsibilities for the role include working with technology peers and business partners to solve business problems and providing support to ensure the availability of our products are met.

  • Provide technical support to operations or other development teams by troubleshooting, debugging and solving critical issues in the production environment in a timely manner to minimize user and revenue impact.
  • Ability to interpret code and solve problems based on existing standards.
  • Work closely with our business partners and stakeholders to identify requirements and priority of new enhancements and features and ensure that the stakeholders needs are being met.
  • Actively participates and collaborates in meetings, processes, agile ceremonies and interaction with other technology groups.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, or coaching to software or systems engineering teams that are distributed across geographic locations. Proactively share knowledge and best practices on using new and emerging technologies across all the development and testing groups.
  • Creates and maintains all required technical documentation / manual related to assigned components to ensure supportability.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information technology or equivalent experience

7+ years of professional software development experience

5+ years of experience with Java and XML

Broad experience in enterprise-class system design and development including use of the following technologies: Java, Oracle, SQL, Messaging technologies (IBM MQ, ActiveMQ)

3+ years of past experience working across geographical sites

Ability to debug and diagnose complex issues

Experience with version control (Git, GitHub, TFS)

Experience working with relational databases.

Demonstrated understanding of Linux operating system

Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills

Application and systems testing

Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

Desired Qualifications:

Python or other scripting languages

AWS (EC2, Lambda, IAM, RDS, Amazon MQ, CloudFormation)

Infrastructure as Code

API development & microservices (Spring Boot)

Experience working within an Agile environment

MQ/JMS
