AMVAC is looking for a Technical Services Regional Manager for the Midwest territory. AMVAC, an American Vanguard Company, is a diversified specialty and agricultural products company that develops, manufactures, and markets solutions for crop protection and nutrition, turf and ornamentals management, commercial, and consumer pest control globally.
This is a full-time, field position as a Technical Service Specialist (TSS) in the Product Development and Technical Service Department. Key responsibilities will be to focus on leadership in technical product support to AMVAC’s Sales Team, Key Account Managers, and Marketing Managers within specific sales regions, in this case, the Midwest Region (14 States), bounded by Ohio, Colorado, Kansas, and the Canadian border. The TSS will coordinate technical activities between sales teams and Product Development Specialists to extend broad sales support within the region. The TSS will report to the Product Development / Technical Service Department to ensure a consistent technical message throughout the Sales and Marketing organizations. The focus of the TSS will be on commercial products and support to internal and external customers.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Sales & Marketing Support Activities (70%):
- Identify and coordinate Sales and Marketing technical needs for the respective region in support of the commercial product line
- Establish a strong communication channel with Sales Managers and their Teams to ensure key regional sales directives are implemented and regional sales goals are achieved
- Leverage technical data and expertise generated by the PD Team or third parties to provide regional geographic support for regional objectives
- Develop and maintain productive relationships with key customers at all touchpoints such as channel partners, growers, crop consultants, and University Extension personnel
- Assist the Regional Sales Team in the implementation of commercial product demonstration programs and coordination of new product programs
- Support commercial crop teams by providing market intelligence needed to develop new product solutions
- Plan and implement field training days and plot tours to support commercial products
- Identify needs for focused training or seminars; serve as lead for external training and coordinate guest and expert speakers
- Present relevant AMVAC findings and product updates at ‘Field Days’ as well as customer meetings, commodity / technical meetings, and internal business teams
- Assist in the resolution of product complaints as requested by the sales team
- Assist in the preparation and review of technical bulletins, sell sheets, and other collateral to fulfill key sales and marketing needs to drive sales
- Maintain and update external product recommendation guides
Product Development (20%)
- Actively participate in Product Development Planning and Results meetings to assist with developing protocols and identification of data needed to support the correct positioning of new products and technologies
- In specific areas of expertise and in specific instances lead Product Development projects as part of the PD Team.
Regulatory Support Activities (10%):
- Identify and track important regional regulatory issues where technical input can affect outcomes and provide such information to departments involved
- Assist in securing justifications from key user groups and academics for FIFRA section 18 and 24(c) labels
- Assist with writing FIFRA Directions for Use of AMVAC products.
Skills & Qualifications
An M.S. or Ph.D. degree in an agricultural-related field and 2+ years of technical support experience in crop protection is preferred. Relevant experience will be considered in lieu of academic achievements. The incumbent must excel in verbal communication to allow the linkage of technical information with channel partners and sales team members. In addition, above-average competency is expected in the following areas:
- Excellent public speaking and technical writing skills
- Experience in synthetic and biological crop protection
- Agronomic and technical knowledge of crops, markets, and pests
- Interest in learning outside the incumbent’s specialty
- Proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint to prepare sales support materials
- Adept at assessing field research results, literature reviews, and translating science into market-related information
- Strong analytical skills to identify new opportunities within the region and effective planning skills for efficient execution of duties
- Enthusiasm and commitment to excellence to help build a new Technical Support function
- The candidate should be willing to travel overnight up to 25-35% of the time
- Must reside within the territory ( OH, MI, IN, IL, WI, MN, IA, MO, KS, NE, SD, ND, WY, CO)

Education Requirements
- M.S. or Ph.D. degree in an agricultural-related field (agronomy, weed science, plant physiology, entomology, etc.)
