About FlytBase FlytBase is a deep-tech startup at the heart of Drone Autonomy's evolution. We believe that drones can only realize their true potential when they achieve full autonomy. The FlytBase SaaS (Software as a Service) platform harnesses the power of DiaB (Drone in a Box) systems. This technology serves critical applications including public safety, emergency response, and inspections and monitoring of vital infrastructure. The cloud-based software platform helps users manage their fleet of drones from anywhere across the world.
Our FlytBase team comprises young engineers and designers from top-tier universities such as IIT-B, IIT-KGP, University of Maryland, Georgia Tech, COEP, SRM, KIIT and with deep expertise in drone technology, computer science, electronics, aerospace, and robotics. The company is headquartered in Silicon Valley, California, USA, and has R&D offices in Pune, India. Widely recognized as a pioneer in the commercial drone ecosystem, FlytBase won the Grand Champion award at the Global NTT Data Innovation Contest 2019 in Tokyo, Japan. FlytBase graduated from the Cisco LaunchPad Accelerator Program in 2017 and was awarded the TiE50 Top Startup award by TiE Silicon Valley. What We’re Looking For The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in design principles, a keen eye for detail and the ability to design for critical systems. Experience in the deep tech sector is a plus, but more importantly, we value adaptability, the hunger for continuous learning, and the ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced environment. Roles and Responsibilities Designing a feature from start to finish which includes: research, ideation, wireframing, prototyping and testing, that effectively communicates interactions and design concepts Building and working on design systems and paying close attention to details in design, such as colors, typography, etc. so that UI patterns remain consistent Conduct thorough research on drone operations, regulations, competitors, and user behaviors to inform and guide design decisions Collaborating with various teams, such as engineering, customer success, robotics, business and marketing Leveraging the drone industry knowledge to translate complex technical specifications into user-friendly designs that enhance the overall user experience Read and understand technical API and SDK documentation to derive actionable insights Skills Good command over Figma Knowledge about WCAG guidelines Responsive design Creating Design Systems & implementing them Bonus Points Bachelors/Masters Degree in Product Design or equivalent Previous history demonstrating work in deep tech Experience in designing SaaS applications Compensation This role comes with an annual CTC that is market competitive and commensurate with your contribution to the team, culture fit, and alignment to FlytBase’s long-term vision.
