About the position:

These positions in the Writing Centre will provide support to students and faculty in developing, implementing, and reviewing curriculum and pedagogy to achieve excellence and effective practices in professional and academic writing.

This position involves collaborating with various stakeholders to develop, implement, and assess curriculum and pedagogical strategies aimed at achieving excellence in reading and writing practices.

Minimum Eligibility Criteria for positions:

1) For Assistant Professor : A relevant Master's Degree in English, Writing Studies, Education, or a related field is required and 8 years of total experience in professional practice, teaching, and research, or a combination thereof.

OR

A relevant Doctoral Degree and 2 years of total experience in professional practice, teaching, and research, or a combination thereof.

2) For Academic Associate : A relevant Master's Degree in English, Writing Studies, Education, or a related field is required and 5 years of total experience in professional practice, teaching, and research, or a combination thereof.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Curriculum Development and Enhancement :

• Collaborate with faculty members to develop and refine reading and writing-focused curriculum materials.
• Design courses, workshops, and resources to enhance reading and writing skills across disciplines.

Pedagogical Support:

• Provide training, guidance, and support to faculty, academic associates, and teaching associates and assistants involved in integrating effective reading and writing instruction methodologies into their teaching.
• Conduct workshops and training sessions for students on best practices in teaching writing.

Student Support and Engagement:

• Offer individual and group tutoring sessions to students seeking assistance with reading and writing assignments and projects.
• Develop and deliver reading and writing-focused workshops and programs to enhance student writing proficiency.

Assessment and Evaluation:

• Assess student writing samples to identify strengths and areas for improvement.
• Develop assessment tools and strategies to measure the effectiveness of writing programs and initiatives.

Research and Scholarship :

• Engage in scholarly activities, including research, publications, and presentations related to writing instruction, and pedagogy.
• Stay updated with current trends, theories, and best practices in writing education.

Expertise Required:

• Excellent teaching and research skills, and an ability to integrate the new methods of teaching and mentoring with an ongoing pedagogy.
• Should have demonstrated experience in curriculum development, particularly in writing education.
• Should have experience in implementing changes/improvements in the curriculum.
• In addition to technical capabilities, expertise in developing a critical understanding of the scope of the profession.
• Demonstrated ability of integrating professional best practices in teaching.
