Job Summary:
The VFX Producer is a client-facing role acting as key liaison to the client Production team, responsible for the successful delivery of a project; leading, budgeting and crewing a project ensuring delivery on budget and on time. They will manage and build very strong relationships with clients to instil the utmost confidence in Jellyfish Pictures.
The core objectives of the role include the smooth running of projects, accountability for the P&L, and timely delivery. The role primarily covers Film and Episodic projects, but could cover commercials, MGFX, and any other ad hoc project as requested by VFX Leadership. The role requires a high degree of experience in VFX including bidding, budgeting, scheduling, a keen interest in the VFX and wider film & high-end TV industry, a confident approach with clients, excellent time management and an eye for detail. The role reports to the Head of production of VFX.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for project profitability, accountable for direct labour costs and reporting week on week changes to the MD and finance in the P&L meeting
- Responsible for actualizing project spend, on a weekly basis, to ensure correct costs are captured and actualized against project’s P&L.
- Responsible for freelance invoicing and holiday approvals for the team.
- Responsible for project finances, working with finance and client to agree on payment milestones, requesting purchase orders from client, alerting finance when an invoice can be raised, reporting costs to date to client on request, managing change orders, keeping track of all awarded costs to match paperwork from client.
- Working with finance to get track of project’s non-UK spend.
- Responsible for project bidding, bidding out shots and assets on request from client with VFX supervisor, sharing with client in timely manner, maintaining internal master bid doc.
- Responsible for project resourcing, attend weekly resource meetings with Crewing and Finance team, communicate clearly resourcing needs on a weekly basis in the form of Producer publish.
- Partner with Creative leadership to ensure projects are suitably cast, planned and delays and production issues resolved.
- Ensure that project is accurately forecast according to render requirements.
- Ensure that weekly vendor report is maintained and shared with client.
- First point of contact with clients. Lead regular production meetings with client to ensure clear and regular communication, align with creative, budget and schedule expectations.
- Respond to client requests in a timely manner.
- Hold show kick off meeting, introducing all relevant HODs to the project on award.
- Ensure that project progress is reported regularly and that any delays are escalated, holding weekly show meeting reporting to VFX leadership
- Attend 1:1s and VFX Production Meeting lead by HOP.
- Responsible for managing credits process, postmortem meetings and archiving of project on completion.
- Responsible for delivering materials to in-house marketing team for showreel, website and socials on project completion.
- Lead the production team and be a champion and role model for company culture, ensuring that the Production team exhibit behavior's which support and embody our values.
Requirements
- Previous Producing or senior VFX Production experience necessary.
- Understanding of bid process and workflow.
- Strong financial acumen and demonstrates a will to understand wider company financial processes to inform good decision-making.
- Ability to build rapport with new clients; experience in building effective working relationships and communicating with clients.
- Must have strong planning and organizational skills; be confident and enthusiastic when communicating in person and/or over the phone; and enjoys working in a fast-paced creative team environment.
- Ability to interact with all levels of the company as well as external partners or clients.
- Software requirements: Microsoft Word and Excel and shotgrid
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced production environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
