Why this job matters

This job matters as the purpose of this job is to be the overall lead on complex win business solutions and to deliver a contract/solution and support the operation of that solution during the period of the contract (CTO function). The job drives innovation into the customer accounts and works on business development. The job really understands the impact of the solution offered by BT and design a programme to deliver ensuring that technical solutions can be delivered while BT continues to make a profit. This role is responsible for defining and maintaining the e2e solution/technical roadmap for our largest customer contracts/business areas across all technical and solution aspects, spanning network, systems and process.

The Managed service Proposition is a major growth sector for Global and is currently undergoing a major Transformational programme to re-architect the BSS and OSS system stack to a strategic one. This role is a critical one to focus where we can be brilliant, be more straightforward to do business with and meet customer needs with greater agility. This role is a critical one to deliver the technical solutions to underpin the Digital and Contact Portfolio transformation projects. And will involve working across matrixed collaboration project teams and functionally managing (matrixed) 1-2 delivery professionals.

What you’ll be doing

• E2E Delivery of business requirements for the Managed service Propositions demand (Product, Simplify and Contracts)

• Accountable for multiple complex medium sized technical deliveries or a single large technical delivery Ownership of technical delivery, design, e2e testing, ORT and in-life.

• Collaboration with engineering/platforms have sufficient capacity to meet delivery commitments

• Ensuring close coloration with business, E2E solution architecture/design and setting strategic product direction, with wider (senior) stakeholder engagement

• Ensure that our technical deliveries realise Business Value (benefits realisation).

• Ensuring that all impacted teams understand the underpinned e2E Technical plans, technical solution meets business needs and plans are comprehensive and are achievable.

• Meeting committed finance figures for the technical deliveries, with full Financial (BUB & Business alignment)

• Make /implement recommendations for improvements to processes including Agile adoption.

• Run a regular project review forum with all stakeholders.

• Manage/determine escalation process for project milestones. Provide options on recovery of the technical delivery as well as other options including re-planning/rescheduling.

• Make recommendations on the affordability of technical delivery costs and where appropriate challenge the costs/solution. In addition, drive the discussion with stakeholders on requirements/affordability and make decisions around release scoping with stakeholders.

• Take ownership of technical delivery problems (test and live,P1 / P2 / P3 on prod), identify what needs to happen and ensure all parties who are impacted or who can help to address the problem are engaged in a timely fashion to reach a solution.

• Define Delivery of CFU demand across the Security Global and Enterprise portfolios

• Define Solution and Delivery system Transformation programmes

• Has the ability to influence and engage with senior stakeholders from across BT Technology, Global and Enterprise.

Skills and experience required

• Be Agil e : You use your knowledge of best practice to collaborate with peers across the business in different ways. You should be an expert devOps Engineer in your area of development expertise.

• Give Specialized Advice: You offer advice and recommendations based on your expertise both proactively and on request.

• Experience in leading high performing teams, delivering large projects.

• Knowledge and experience of programme management best practices, e.g. governance, templates and deliverables

• Experience of building a culture of learning that connects a tool or application to the underlying behavioral and cultural shift needed

• Improvement Focus: You question and challenge the way things are done and work with others to make improvements. You build your understanding of the end-to-end processes to which your own role and the wider team contributes.

• Functional Exposure: It will be desirable if you have prior exposure to BSS/OSS Platforms as well as Network and Process

Solution Definition and Design: Is experienced in defining, designing and managing complex technical solutions across multiple domains, involving extensive range of technologies using industry standard and BT architectures. Has experience in defining, creating, documenting and managing solutions across a wide range of projects and is able to coach others in these skills.

• BT Platform Architecture Knowledge: A high level of understanding of the BT Matrix Platform architecture and its evolution and how it used to drive the development of new and improved capabilities and LOB products and propositions.

• Business Development: Has some experience in the principles surrounding business development and identifying compelling sales proposals to meet customer needs.

• Product Specifics: High Level of understanding of the Global Voice and Contact products

• Stakeholders include: - MSP Portfolio Tribe Lead, Head of Engineering, MSP – Delivery lead, Propositions teams, DigiCo / MSP leadership team

• Commit to PI payload for the squad (s)

• Ensuring the committed scope is delivered with optimum quality.

• Accept the deliverables meeting ‘Definition of Done’.
