Job description

Title: Senior Manager – Process Automation

Mission : The individual will be responsible for ensuring the automation, implementation, and qualification of the assembly process in line with SPS/Lean manufacturing principles. This role involves developing and delivering assembly process equipment with optimal operational performance in safety, quality, lead time, process capacity, and cost efficiency. The individual will bring technical expertise to the industrialization assembly process team and drive the introduction and standardization of new automation and test technologies and processes.

Roles & Responsibilities :

  • Develop automation for new assembly process equipment, influencing project design and assembly processes simultaneously with new product development.
  • Optimize industrial performance through digitization, late product differentiation, and standardization, while promoting energy efficiency and low CO2 footprint.
  • Introduce innovative industrial technologies aligned with the product technology roadmap.
  • Prepare detailed equipment technical specifications in alignment with Schneider global standards and select and assess suppliers in collaboration with the purchase department.
  • Coordinate the installation, commissioning, and qualification of equipment and assembly lines, as well as conduct return on investment analysis for different solutions.
  • Plan and coordinate with multiple suppliers for equipment maintenance and upgrades, and understand the maintenance needs of production equipment.
  • Drive processes to meet high standards of energy efficiency and environmental best available techniques.
  • Lead technical trials and tests to validate critical assembly technologies and participate in the installation and setup of new equipment in factories.
  • Support factories for critical issues related to assembly and industrialization support.
  • Regularly monitor and report on equipment performance and evaluation, and learn and implement new technologies and equipment through proper testing and evaluation.
  • Program or modify programming using various software and review programming done by suppliers.
  • Be accountable until product/process and flow have reached the required level of robustness and efficiency as committed with Supply Chain operations.

Required Skills & Knowledge :

  • Very good knowledge in main assembly technologies like laser marking, labelling, screwing, riveting, pneumatic/electrical/mechanical machines, resistance welding, soldering, painting, packaging, ultrasonic welding, Hot foil stamping, Vision Camera, Flow packing, Pad printing, Electronics assembly, snap fitting, pick and place, adjustment, Robotics, flow packing, etc.
  • Good knowledge & proven experience in development of SPM (Special purpose machine) for manual, semi-auto & fully automatic assembly lines.
  • Good knowledge in test equipment (mechanical, electrotechnical, electronics, magnetic, thermal, differential, HV, continuity). Knowledge of Automatic assembly equipment, test benches build and maintenance
  • Strong experience in automation and programming software, including PLC, HMI, MES, VB .net, NI LabView, and Test Stand.
  • Knowledge on Smart Machines, IIoT, Machine Learning, Data Science, Lean Manufacturing, process line design, capacity management, and industry 4.0 technologies.
  • Familiarity with Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Schneider automation and switchgear products, IT and computer-based SPMs, communication protocols, and manufacturing methods and maintenance.
  • Skill for estimating Capex/new investment for assembly line equipment, and experience in project management and leadership.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, leadership, and project management skills.

Job Conditions :

  • The engineer will be based in Schneider, Bangalore office and will be required to travel to Schneider manufacturing factories and suppliers in India or abroad for technical discussions, trials, qualification, and support.
  • Travel could range from 50 to 75% of the time, with varying durations based on project stages. The stay outside could be for 2-3 days at initial stages could extend to 2-3 months in the final stages. He will not resist the same
  • The engineer will follow all Schneider set procedures/formats and maintain strict confidentiality about work carried out.

Qualifications

Education: Engineering Gradutae - B.E / B.Tech

Domain : Electrical & Electronics Engineering / Mechatronics / OR Equivalent

Experience: 8+ years of relevant experince.
