Job description
Qualifications and skills
1.Post-graduate degree in disciplines such as Wildlife Sciences/Forestry/Ecology/Environmental Studies or equivalent.
2.Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the field of Wildlife Biology, Forestry Sciences, Wildlife and Nature Conservation/Research projects will be desirable.
3.Experience in working in the area of wildlife conservation and remote areas
4.Knowledge of ecological sampling, analysis and interpretation. Candidates with working knowledge of camera trapping and sign identification are desired.
5.Experience in ecological monitoring and fieldwork. Working knowledge of analytical software like R, GIS is preferable.
Strong written and verbal communication skills in Hindi and English.
Broad Responsibilities:
1.Ability to multi-task and ability to create and work in a team-oriented, multi-cultural environment.
2.Attend all wildlife conflict emergencies with the Rapid Response Team (RRT) in the Terai Landscape.
3.Provide data and predictions on conflict animals movement to the team members to warn the communities in the conflict affected area in averting HWC and development of early warning system.
4.Collect, collate and analyse data in all the human-large carnivore conflict cases attended / handled by the team. 5.Coordinate with the Primary Response Teams (PRT) along with the RRT in capacity building, trainings and community engagement in high conflict areas.
6.Collect data and information for evaluation of the PRT’s and other project activities as per the monitoring formats.
7.Strategic long term planning of the project activities in consultation with the Head / PI following the current paradigm and principles of social science and wildlife conservation.
8.Produce periodic reports for submission to different stakeholder.
9.Prepare manuscripts for publication in scientific journals.
Administrative and Financial Responsibilities
1.Provide content for website and participate in dissemination and outreach.
2.Responsible for all quality monthly/activity reports, maintenance of log book and vehicles at place of posting, photographic documentation of activities, submission of data sheets etc. as per the requirements of the project.
3.Represent the organization whenever required or an opportunity arises.
