Overview Of Role

66degrees' Managed Cloud Solutions practice works with some of the largest cloud users in the world to help them transform by harnessing the power of AI, data, and the cloud. With a focus on Google Cloud, we partner with our clients to accelerate innovation and delivery, resolve incidents 24/7, and design their cloud strategy.

The Cloud Engineering Manager is responsible for leading our India-based engineering team, defining operational processes, and ensuring service excellence.

This role is an opportunity to apply your leadership and technical talent to solve a variety of interesting problems for customers, lead and grow a team of top technical talent, and contribute to building one of the best cloud consulting partners in the industry.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of multi-disciplinary cloud engineers, setting clear goals, and providing regular feedback to drive their professional growth and excellence.
  • Define, document, and implement processes that drive high-quality execution of both agile development and 24/7 incident response workstreams.
  • Handle support escalations and other ad hoc client responsibilities, as needed.
  • Work with our engineers and account managers to deliver best-in-class recommendations and advisory guidance to our clients.
  • Manage shift schedules, on-call coverage, and capacity planning processes.
  • Help develop, expand, and iterate on new service offerings.
  • Work with global teams including North America-based leadership and engineering teams to create a transparent and collaborative working environment.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience overall, including 5+ years of managing high-performing engineering teams.
  • 5+ years of experience in engineering, cloud technical support, or similar roles.
  • 5+ years of experience working in both agile and 24/7 managed services/on-call environments.
  • 1+ years of direct experience on Google Cloud as an engineer, developer, or in similar roles.
  • 5+ years of development experience with data services like the Apache stack, ETL tools, databases, data warehouses, data lakes and data pipelines strongly preferred.
  • Proven leadership abilities and a passion for developing high-performing teams.
  • Strong experience defining and achieving KPIs and operational processes in both an agile and reactive support context.
  • Strong technical acumen in Cloud Architecture, Observability, Performance Benchmarking, Capacity planning and Reliability tools.
  • Experience in driving engineering and operational excellence initiatives.
  • Strong customer-facing experience and communication skills
  • Strong Terraform and Python skills. Experience with other programming languages is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or similar.
  • GCP Professional Cloud Architect or equivalent at minimum and other certifications are strongly preferred.
