Job description
This position is part of the Global Record to Report, GFO, OpEx COE and the position will report into Sr Financial Analyst, OpEx. This role is based in Bangalore.
Purpose of the Role:
- The role will be responsible for managing broad range of critical accounting functions for OpEx accounting processes covering 100% of Tax market uploads, 50% of ABNA market upload process and E2E PwC Audit Fee accrual and allocation process at AXP level.
- The role requires strong partnership and collaboration with LE Controllers, CPA, LFO, Segment controllers and non-accounting teams.
Responsibilities/Critical Factors to Success:
- Responsible for managing accounting as mentioned above for various legal entities in compliance with manual journal entry (MJE) protocol.
- Ensure compliance with internal service level agreements (SLA) for all accounting activities
- Assume E2E ownership of key OpEx accrual accounting processes for 100% tax Market uploads, 50% ABNA market uploads and PwC Audit Fee accrual process at AXP level.
- Ensure completeness of all activities and robust cadence of checking the posted results to cross validate the activity outcome
- Ensure adherence to reconciliation policy and preparation of accurate sub ledgers.
- Support / participate in standardization, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Awareness of AXP Legal hierarchy structure, accounting close protocols consolidation
- Ensure stakeholder relationship management
- Ensure adherence to controls compliance requirements in line with prevailing policies procedures including SOX, audit support etc
- Ability to work across multiple time zones
Qualification:
Functional Skills/Capabilities:
- Strong understanding of accounting concepts and prior experience of managing complex accounting functions
- Understanding of American Express business fundamentals and financial statements
- Functional understanding of consolidation protocol and SOX controls
- Strong and clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to collaborate and build relationships across multiple cross functional teams.
- Good analytical skills and able to connect business drivers and linkages.
Academic Background:
- Graduate/Post-Graduate with at-least 2 to 5 years of experience and good understanding of US GAAP requirements for accrual accounting
Technical Skills/Capabilities:
Understanding of US GAAP reporting requirements
Knowledge of Platforms:
Oracle GL, Advanced MS office suits such as Excel, Word, Power point
