About the role: The Deputy Editor, Print leads the growing print editorial team in our India office. This role will support our print magazines and books, oversee the copy desk and contribute to the editorial production of our Reader’s Digest International publication.
About you: You’re a creative writer and editor with the collaborative spirit necessary to produce quality, on-brand content for our print products, including books and magazines. You have an eye for detail, never miss a deadline and can work collaboratively with fellow editors and designers to create beautiful print publications for our loyal, engaged audiences to enjoy. You have experience leading an editorial team of creative writers and editors, and can successfully juggle multiple projects and deadlines.
Your day-to-day: - M anage a team of editors and oversee their work on our print products
- Collaborate with brand leads and designers to see the editorial books through to completion, including copyfitting, caption writing, proofreading
- Lead a team of copy editors including onboarding/training, overseeing project workflow, managing employee workloads and monitoring deadlines
- Oversee the production of three standalone issues of Reader’s Digest International including copyediting, fact-checking and copyfitting
- You employ your creative skills as a writer and editor, writing captivating copy and headlines that give our readers another way to enjoy and engage with our content
You have: - A bachelor’s degree in journalism, English or communications, and a familiarity with AP style
- 5+ years of experience in editorial roles
- 3+ years of management experience
- Demonstrated success in building and maintaining positive relationships with direct reports, editorial and design team peers, and brand leads to get the best overall creative results
- An organized, thorough and deadline-oriented approach to working with an ability to recognize when a content product or experience is ready to move forward
- Effective problem-solving and multitasking skills, and you can easily juggle multiple projects at the same time and work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with decisive and direct style
- Experience with content production tools such as InCopy and a content management system
