Ensures material standards are met and non-conformances or variances are approved and/or minimized. Develops specifications for new contract orders. Gathers quotations, examines bids and makes awards. Monitors cost, schedule and scope of assigned subcontracts to assure best quality at best value. Job Description

The Procurement Planner and Buyer takes plans, schedules and monitors logistics and supply chain services provided by NTT with the objective of achieving cost benefits, delivery reliability and customer satisfaction through the best possible solutions (flow of material, value, information) as well as optimising the processes and the use of resources. They align with logistics and supply chain teams, vendors, preferred suppliers and contractors to ensure service delivery to the internal and external client in accordance with the Service Level Agreements (SLA). These individuals contribute to the execution of a logistics and supply chain strategy that defines the connection and combination of activities and functions throughout the value chain including B2B Integration (i.e., Business to Business integration, automation, and optimisation of key processes).

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the sales team to identify opportunities to up sell logistics and supply chain solutions and to track other opportunities that may emerge
  • Contribute to pre-sales processes and provide information that enables the decision-making process related to the effort required to deliver and generally providing advice on the most optimal way to approach the client
  • Plan, schedule and monitor the movement of materials through the production cycle to determine required material purchases
  • Obtain and/or purchase materials using schedules to maintain inventory at planned levels
  • Create and maintain bill of materials
  • Ensure materials standard are met and variances are approved and/or minimised
  • Identify opportunities for growth within the assigned portfolio and work closely with the pre-sales and sales team to maximise opportunities
  • Monitors cost, schedule, and scope of assigned subcontracts to assure best quality at best value
  • Maintain an awareness of the competitive landscape for assigned portfolios
  • Collaborate with the sales teams they assist with the development of strategies to ensure account retention
  • Stay abreast of changes in the market and recommend improvements to solutions offerings to meet client demand
  • Use probing questions and a conversational approach to explore and uncover the client's needs
  • Personalise the recommended solution in line with the client's need
  • Demonstrate capability (features, advantages and benefits) at a detailed level
  • Offer unique perspectives and align insights to key client priorities
  • Convince clients to choose to do business with NTT, by pre-empting stakeholder objections and pushing the client to a favorable outcome
  • Aim to generate revenue and exploit opportunities, whilst displaying notable client service orientation
  • Work closely with vendors to understand their strategies for solutions and services and articulate the roadmap and associated impacts for clients
  • Develop procedures and systems for commercial logistics and supply chain projects
  • Review draft commercial demands and develop project plans to ensure commercial readiness
  • Act as the point of escalation for the client
  • Ensure that a culture of service management excellence is developed and maintained by the logistics and supply chain team.
  • Ensure the identification of risks to supply chain delivery
  • Drive the implementation of the appropriate solutions to reduce the likelihood of escalations and/or delivery impact to the client
  • Contribute to the implementation of supply chain delivery model improvements focused on optimisations that will be valuable to the client and NTT
  • Work closely with the Vendor management team to ensure vendors are reviewed and established in line with client operational and SLA requirements
  • Drive the buying process by dealing with complex transaction and by contributing to the administration and management of the process
  • Interact and communicate with vendors to gather information and to negotiate certain actions

Knowledge, skills and attributes:

  • Ability to establish working relationships based on collaboration, trust, and open communication

  • Ability proactively engage suppliers for mutual benefit to resolve operational incidents, problems, poor performance and other sources of conflict
  • Ability to implement supplier management practices to support cloud-based services
  • Ability to implement clear escalation paths for discussing and resolving issues
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation to ensure compliance
  • Knowledge of commercial governance and supply chain management practices, practices and trends
  • Ability to manage risks associated with security, continuity, and integrity of supply
  • Ability to implement policies for selection of suppliers and bench-marking supplier performance
  • Ability to benchmark supplier performance
  • Knowledge of placing, monitoring and terminating contracts
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrate excellent attention to detail
  • Well-developed leadership skills and have good strategic thinking ability
  • Display excellent interpersonal skills
  • Good knowledge of purchasing, negotiation, commercial understanding and ost breakdown
  • Ability to add value, reduce costs and input to business improvements

Academic Qualifications and Certifications:

  • Degree in Business, Accounting, Supply Chain, Business Management, or similar
  • Certified Supply Chain Professional

Experience required:

  • Solid experience in in direct buying role.
  • Experience managing performance and risks across multiple suppliers (internal and external) using a set of agreed metrics
  • Previous experience working in a purchasing team in a similar industry
  • Experience working closely with third parties and/or suppliers
