The Trade Compliance Analyst will be part of a team of three export/import compliance professionals responsible for NetApp's Global Trade Compliance (GTC) program in the APAC region, with this position sitting in India. The Analyst will help define and execute procedures related to export and import compliance regimes in India consistent with local, United States and other international regimes.
In this position, you will engage at all levels of internal and external partner organizations. GTC has the responsibility for managing export licensing of products and technical data accomplishing all customer or transaction screenings such as restricted party list reviews managing export/import compliance awareness training handling foreign national screening and licensing classification of products and technical data under appropriate EAR ECCNs and Harmonized System codes maintaining compliance procedures conducting internal audits to ensure compliance with U.S. and applicable global regulations and completing any other activity required to progress the trade compliance function within NetApp.
Experience in the field of customs and export compliance in India knowledge of global trade compliance regulations in countries outside of India a plus.
Previous experience importing and exporting controlled dual-use goods to and from India.
Experience with Category 5 products.
Understanding of regulations applicable to export licensing in DTA or SEZ.
Excellent oral and written communication skills fluency in English.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, negotiation and organizational skills.
High level of integrity and professionalism, including dealing with complex and sensitive matters.
Specific duties and responsibilities include overseeing and streamlining releases from local customs authorities, responding to customs queries, project management of Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) program to promote NetApp as an AEO certified company, minimize disruptions to cargo clearance, and retain recognition as a 'secure and reliable' partner. Assist in developing and executing NetApp's global trade program among a global team that is currently based in the United States, the Netherlands, Ireland, and Singapore.
Drive the continuous improvement of the Company's GTC Program, including automating processes and procedures.
Partner with numerous functions globally within the Company, including Operations, Logistics, Supply Chain, Legal, Tax, Finance, Sales, IT, and Engineering to develop and execute defined procedures.
Single Global Trade Compliance point of contact in India for questions related to release of goods from customs interface with local customs authorities, including but not limited to the SVB.
Partner with internal and external stakeholders in leadership of AEO certification program.
Complete export license requests in India interface with those authorities on an as-needed basis.
Assist in developing and implementing trade compliance audit and training programs.
Monitor regulatory changes and help revise compliance policies and practices in accordance with changing legal framework and business models.
Manage Customs Brokers in India on accuracy of entry/exit declarations and speed of customs clearance.
Bachelor's degree required MBA, J.D. or Engineering degree a plus.
Fluency in languages other than English a plus.
Minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience in customs and export roles.
Technical knowledge in all aspects of global trade compliance required, including but not limited to customs / export classification, licensing, valuation, country of origin, screening.
Prior experience with working in trade compliance programs in large, global tech companies a plus.
