Summary Of Position:
Alcon is on a mission to build an integrated suite of Digital Health products and experiences for its customers with a strong technology foundation, where a combination of devices, data management, applications, and services drives continuous improvement of patient outcomes. The Digital organizations vision is revolutionize the eyecare/ophthalmology space by leveraging digital health technology to enhance patient care and experiences.
At Alcon, we are accelerating the creation of a Foundational services engineering organization for Digital Health Products, with a focus on building, standardizing, and maintaining several core services to enable rapid development and deployment of innovative digital health solutions and accelerating time-to-market. We are seeking an experienced and visionary Director of Digital Health Foundational Services Engineering to lead the strategic development and implementation of foundational services critical to our digital health ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build secure and compliant Digital Health Cloud foundations.
- Integrate leading-edge customer identity solutions for enhanced security and personalized experiences.
- Develop customer integrations to Electronic Health Records (EHR) and non-Alcon medical devices for seamless interoperability and improved workflows.
- Establish modern DevOps foundations to enable agility and speed to market for new innovative digital products.
- Lead the design, development, and optimization of cloud-based platforms tailored for digital health solutions, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security.
- Oversee the technical integration and maintenance of digital health products with customer systems, including electronic health records (EHRs), patient management systems, and other customer technology infrastructure.
- Collaborate with enterprise IT teams to integrate digital health solutions with existing enterprise systems
- Recruit, mentor, and manage a talented team of DevOps engineers responsible for building and maintaining common foundational services used across multiple digital health products.
- Implement agile development methodologies and best practices within the DevOps team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Provide technical guidance and leadership to the engineering team, ensuring alignment with industry best practices, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements in the healthcare space.
- Collaborate closely with product management, design, quality assurance, and customer success teams to ensure seamless integration and delivery of foundational services within digital health products.
- Communicate regularly with executive leadership, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to provide updates on engineering initiatives, key milestones, and strategic direction.
Key Requirements/Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or masters degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field with a minimum of 10+ years of experience in software engineering roles, with at least 3 years in a leadership capacity focused on digital health or healthcare IT.
- Proven track record of successfully designing, implementing, and managing cloud-based platforms and integrations within the healthcare industry.
- Strong understanding of enterprise IT systems and integration patterns, particularly within healthcare settings.
- Experience building and leading DevOps teams, with a focus on automation, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and cloud-native technologies.
- Deep knowledge of agile development methodologies, DevOps practices, and modern software engineering tools and frameworks.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across teams and stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to drive innovation, solve complex technical challenges, and deliver high-quality solutions in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Familiarity with healthcare regulations and standards, such as HIPAA, HL7, and FHIR.
Work hours: 1 PM to 10 PM IST
