Job description

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  
• 8 years of experience with one or more general purpose programming languages including but not limited to: Java, C/C++, or Python.
  

• 7 years of experience with systems engineering, virtualization, and Linux.

• Experience coding in data structures, algorithms, and software design.
  

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience with NVME protocol.
  
• Experience with VFIO and PCI Passthrough.
  
• Experience with Virtualization and related software technologies.
  
• Systems level programming experience in device drivers (networking and/or storage).
  
• Ability to debug complex system issues, including performance.
  
• Great communication skills to work with a large partner teams, especially across timezones.

The Virtual Storage team is responsible for providing SSD support for Google Compute Engine (GCE) instances, as well as enabling the persistent disk product. The larger team is responsible for Virtual IO for all virtual machine instances within GCE. The team enables/validates networking support for all GCE instances. This involves working with the current and future NICs/IPUs and enabling them for usage in the GCE Fleet. We are responsible for Bare Metal Solutions and Productization within GCE and ensuring that Bare Metal becomes a part of every GCE instance family. This includes paving the path for future products either directly as bare metal or derivatives of the technology.
