Job Description Summary
As a member of Plant Civil and Structural Engineering Team, you will lead the team of Engineers who will do analysis and design of Structural steel for execution of Boiler, Air Quality Control Systems and Services projects. He/ She will ensure that the Structural deliverable are meeting the requirement of Safety, Quality, Delivery & Cost.
Job Description Your Role: - Review and approve Duct & structural engineering calculations comprising of analysis and design of stiffened plate elements and expansion Joints & duct supporting structures.
- Studying the contractual design requirement, scope of work for structural & duct engineering and reviewing the duct & structural engineering design criteria and work instructions
- Review the 3D model and basic and detail engineering drawings of equipment, structures and foundations and ensure all contractual requirements are met
- Provide technical solutions to duct & structural engineering problems within teams.
- Ensure that lessons learned from previous projects & tenders are known and utilized within the teams by regularly organizing technical peer review sessions.
- Ensure that key performance indicators like On Time Delivery, Right First Time, Direct Material Productivity are met
- Coordinate with Project Engineer and/or Project Manager and communicate status of Duct & structural engineering deliverables with respect to schedules, upcoming deliverables, challenges and achievements. Method of communications to include, but not limited to design review, team meetings, line of balance meetings etc.
- Follow-up and checking interface data with client, other disciplines, equipment suppliers, clash checks using 3D model etc.
- Provide technical support during fabrication, inspection & erection stage
- Support sourcing team in clarifying vendor requirements related to Dampers, Expansion joints & Slide bearing drawings.
- Assist/support Project Management team in technical discussions, for duct & structural aspects, with client and /or Engineering Consultants.
- Ensure continuous process and quality improvement by working on and reviewing standardization projects and cost out ideas
- Implement global standards and common processes to assure consistent quality is delivered.
- Develop technical collaboration with other Global locations for project and tender, if required
- Follow-up & validate outsourced engineering activities for Duct / Structural, if any
Qualifications / Requirements - B.E/M.Tech in Civil/Mech Engineering with Specialization in Structural Engineering
- Minimum 12 to 15 years of engineering experience in Basic & Detailed Engineering
- Knowledge of Indian & International (AISC, Euro, DIN, JIS, GB etc.) Standards related to Structural & Civil Engineering
- Hands on and working knowledge of structural & civil engineering finite element analysis software viz. Staad Pro, Ansys, SAP2000, SAFE etc.
- Exposure with 2D & 3D detailing software viz. AutoCad, Tekla, PDMS
- Ability to plan, execute & monitor project activities in a timely and cost-effective manner and impart knowledge in a clear and concise manner
- Demonstrated interpersonal, responsive and leadership skills, ability to interface effectively with all stake holders
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Desired Characteristics - Proven experience of working in multi-functional engineering teams focused for Power, Oil & Gas, Petrochemical or similar type project execution efforts.
- Knowledge / Experience on Boilers, Air Quality Control Systems like Electrostatic Precipitators, Fabric Filter, Flue Gas Desulfurization.
- Working knowledge of software programming/tool development using latest programing languages.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to balance multiple priorities
