About the team
The IMCS DBA team operates within Managed Cloud Services and overseas managed database services on a global scale. As a shared model DBA team, we are providing support to 30+ MSP customers.
Responsibilities –
- Installation and configuration of MySQL on Linux/Windows and PAAS Environments.
- Installing and Managing MySQL Clusters on Azure VMs, Provisioning Azure Database for MySQL flexible servers.
- Experience in patching, upgradations, and migrations.
- Upgrading from MySQL 5.X to latest versions
- Good knowledge in UNIX and shell scripting.
- Able to handle all MySQL DBA related daily maintenance tasks.
- Troubleshooting and resolving database issues.
- Monitor the system’s health and performance.
- Ensure high levels of performance , availability , sustainability , and security of databases.
- Implement and maintain database security (user management, role management)
- Perform database tuning and performance monitoring.
- Database Backup & recovery strategies
- Understanding of MySQLs underlying storage engines, such as InnoDB and MyISAM.
- Good hands-on MySQL with Replication exposure and HADR experience.
- Experience in Database/SQL Performance Tuning activities including configuring innodb_log_buffer_size, sort_buffer_size, join_buffer_size, read_buffer_size, query_cache_type, query_cache_size, log_queries_not_using_indexes and slow_query_log.
- Proficient in Azure/AWS MySQL Database administration and management.
- Migrating on-premise MySQL instances to Azure/AWS Database for MySQL.
- Migrating Azure Database for MySQL (single server) to Azure Database for MySQL (flexible server)
- Provide suggestions for solutions.
- Lead the set-up , testing , and deployment of new databases, migrations, and upgrades.
- Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes.
- Continuously evaluate emerging MySQL Server technologies and recommend best practices for database management.
- Provide 24x7 support for critical production systems.
Qualification :
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience in a MySQL Server DBA or similar role.
- Strong command of MySQL and MySQL server tools.
- Advanced knowledge of database security , backup and recovery , and performance monitoring standards.
- Strong analytical , problem-solving skills and attention to detail .
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team .
- Excellent oral and written communication skills .
Good to have :
- MySQL database Administration certification.
- Azure/AWS Certification.
- Experience with Linux and Windows Server environments.
- PowerShell and Unix shell scripting skills.
- Knowledge on SQL / PostgreSQL / CosmosDB
